Collection: BLUESOUND

Bluesound is a Canadian hi-fi brand that builds networked streaming devices at audiophile level, using its own BluOS operating system for the job. It belongs to the Lenbrook Group – the same family as NAD and PSB.

BluOS is the heart of it: high-resolution, stable, with an app that has been among the best in the streaming world for years. Not a throwaway gadget, but thoughtfully engineered devices that don't feel out of place even in a serious system. For us on Lake Zürich, Bluesound is the uncomplicated route to good streaming – in a single room or spread across the whole home.

The Bluesound range at HD Zürisee

  • Streamers – the Node in black and white, the compact Node Nano as an entry point and the Node Icon with dual DAC, XLR output and THX headphone amp as the top of the line. All three make an existing system streaming-capable.
  • Streaming amplifiers – Powernode N331 and Powernode EDGE combine streamer and power amp in one chassis, ready for passive speakers. Both are Dirac Live Ready.
  • Streaming speakers – the Pulse family: Flex 2025 as the most compact entry point, the Mini 2i, the 360-degree Pulse M speaker and the powerful Pulse 2i. As active speakers they only need power and network.
  • Home cinema and bass – the soundbars Pulse Cinema with true up-firing channels and Pulse Cinema Mini with virtualized Dolby Atmos, plus the wireless Pulse Sub+ for depth.
  • Server, bridge and accessories – the Vault 2i rips and archives your CDs on 2 TB, the Hub brings turntables, CD players and TVs into the multiroom network. Plus the WM200 and WM230 wall mounts and the RC1 infrared remote.
  • Ready-made sets – matched hi-fi sets made of a Powernode and Argon floorstanding speakers, if you don't want to combine things yourself.

Honestly speaking

Bluesound is strong if you want high-resolution multiroom that simply works – the app and stability are the real argument, not a single spec-sheet figure. This ties you to the BluOS ecosystem; that's no drawback as long as you stay in it, especially since BluOS also runs on many NAD devices. If you want to squeeze the very last bit of sound out of a single source, separate high-end components will get you further. But for comfort, hi-res and networking, Bluesound is exactly right – and the Node remains the most sensible entry into the topic.

Frequently asked questions about Bluesound

What is BluOS, and do I need a subscription for it?

BluOS is Bluesound's streaming platform. It controls all devices, hi-res playback and multiroom through a single app. BluOS itself costs nothing. Services like Tidal, Qobuz or Spotify need their own subscription; internet radio and files from your own network work without one.

Node or Powernode – what's the difference?

The Node is a pure streamer and hangs off your existing amplifier. The Powernode already has the power amp built in, so you connect passive speakers directly to it. If you already have an amplifier, take the Node. If you're starting fresh or want to keep it slim, the Powernode is the shorter path.

Which Node suits me – Nano, Node or Icon?

The Node Nano is the compact entry point for an existing system. The Node adds HDMI eARC for the TV and a headphone amp. The Node Icon tops it off with dual DAC, XLR outputs and a large display, and also works as a preamp directly on a power amp.

Can I combine Bluesound with my existing system?

Yes. The Node connects to practically any amplifier, analog or digital. That makes a classic system streaming-capable without replacing everything. Tell us what you already have, and we'll work out the connection in advance – cables and network included.

Can Bluesound connect with NAD for multiroom?

Yes. NAD devices with BluOS and Bluesound share the same platform and play together in the same multiroom system. In the app you can mix brands freely. Handy if NAD sits in the living room and a Pulse box should play in the kitchen or bathroom.
