Collection: In-Wall & In-Ceiling Speakers

In-wall and in-ceiling speakers are speakers that are set flush into the ceiling or wall and remain practically invisible after installation.

The sound comes from the ceiling, the technology disappears into the cavity – and your living space stays as tidy as you want it. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil you'll find in-wall/in-ceiling speakers from Canton and Yamaha, from a single ceiling speaker for the bathroom to a well thought-out multiroom set spanning several rooms.

Why in-wall/in-ceiling speakers?

Because they bring music into the room without cluttering it up. No stand, no cable clutter, no box competing with the sofa for attention. Especially for open-plan kitchen-living areas, hallways, bathrooms, or discreet sound across several rooms, they're the elegant solution – and in rental flats, where nobody wants big floorstanding speakers, often the only one the family council will approve.

Ceiling or wall – what suits where?

InCeiling models (ceiling installation) radiate from above and distribute the sound evenly through the room – ideal for background music and multiroom. InWall models (wall installation) sit in the wall and direct the sound more precisely, for instance as front or centre speakers in a home cinema. Canton covers both worlds with the InCeiling and InWall series, Yamaha with the NS-IC range offers the clean ceiling solution for a smaller budget.

What to look for when buying

Three things decide it: the required cut-out (does it fit your ceiling?), the installation depth (is there enough cavity?), and the location. For bathrooms, showers or a sheltered outdoor area you need a moisture-resistant model like the Canton InCeiling P6 Outdoor – a normal in-ceiling speaker has no business there. Sounds like fine detail, but that's exactly the point where satisfaction and frustration later part ways. If you're unsure: ask us beforehand, not afterwards.

Frequently asked questions about in-wall/in-ceiling speakers

Can you install in-ceiling speakers yourself?
In principle yes, if you're handy – for ceiling installation you need a clean cut-out and access to the cavity. It gets tricky with fire protection, a vapour barrier, or no cavity at all. In such cases our own technician takes care of the installation directly at your place.

Are in-ceiling speakers suitable for the bathroom?
For wet rooms you need moisture-resistant models like the Canton InCeiling P6 Outdoor. Normal in-ceiling speakers don't belong directly above the shower. We'll tell you honestly which model fits where – and which one you can skip in this case.

How do in-wall/in-ceiling speakers sound compared to floorstanding speakers?
In-wall/in-ceiling speakers sound less obtrusive and fill the room less than good floorstanding speakers – but in return they're invisible and don't disturb the decor. They're ideal for background music, multiroom and home cinema effects. If you're after an uncompromising stereo stage, you're better off with freestanding speakers.

Why buy in-wall/in-ceiling speakers from HD Zürisee?
Because we don't just sell, we also install. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil advises you on ceiling or wall, the right size and wiring – and our own technician installs on request directly at your place. That way the speaker ends up sitting cleanly, securely, and sounding right too.
