Collection: HDMI Cables

An HDMI cable transmits picture and sound digitally between sources such as a Blu-ray player, streaming box or console and a TV, projector or AV receiver.

Why a good HDMI cable?

HDMI today carries high data rates: 4K and 8K, high refresh rates, HDR and multichannel sound right up to eARC. For this to run stably, the cable needs to bring the necessary bandwidth and be cleanly made. A suitable HDMI cable simply shows the full picture and full sound – instead of dropouts, sparkle, or missing eARC when the bandwidth doesn't suffice.

What matters

What's decisive is the bandwidth (keyword: High Speed or Ultra High Speed for 4K/120 and 8K), plus build quality and length. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we choose the HDMI cable to match your devices – that is, what your TV, AV receiver or projector can actually do. More bandwidth than the chain uses doesn't hurt, but it also adds no value if the devices can't call it up.

Who it's for – and straight talk

For every home cinema and every modern TV: a new console, 4K player, projector, or a soundbar via eARC. When upgrading to 8K or 4K at 120 Hz, it's also worth looking at the cable, since older leads often can't manage the bandwidth.

Straight talk: with HDMI, bandwidth decides, not price. A certified cable with the required spec delivers the full signal – a cable twice as expensive doesn't further improve an already error-free picture. We make sure the spec matches your chain, instead of just selling expensive.

Verdict: the right bandwidth for your resolution and frame rate, solidly made, matching length – then home cinema runs without dropouts. For long runs to the projector, we advise you on suitable variants.

Frequently asked questions

What HDMI version do I need for 4K or 8K?

For 4K at 60 Hz, a good High Speed cable is enough. For 4K at 120 Hz or 8K you need an Ultra High Speed cable with 48 Gbit/s bandwidth. It's important that your devices can also handle these modes. Tell us your TV and source, and we'll match the cable accordingly.

What is eARC and do I need a special cable?

eARC sends high-quality multichannel sound back from the TV to the soundbar or AV receiver. For this, the cable should support the full HDMI bandwidth; a certified High Speed or Ultra High Speed cable is the safe choice. We tell you which of your devices support eARC.

How long can an HDMI cable be?

Up to around five metres, high bandwidths are unproblematic with good passive cables. For longer runs, for example to a projector, there are active or optical HDMI cables that keep the signal stable over greater distances. For such cases, we'll find the right solution.

Do I need expensive HDMI cables?

No. What matters is the right spec, not the price. A certified cable with sufficient bandwidth transmits the signal completely; a pricier one won't make the picture any better. We choose based on bandwidth and length, not the price tag.

What does HDMI 2.1 mean?

HDMI 2.1 is the specification with up to 48 Gbit/s that enables 4K at 120 Hz, 8K, and features such as VRR and eARC. It only makes sense if your devices support these features. We clarify with you whether your chain benefits from it.

Why buy HDMI cables at HD Zürisee?

Because we match the cable to your actual chain – TV, AV receiver, projector and source – instead of just selling the most expensive lead. For long runs or eARC setups, we advise you specifically. We help you personally and deliver throughout Switzerland – free shipping from CHF 190.
