Collection: Speaker Stands

Speaker stands are the base for bookshelf speakers, bringing them to the right height and decoupling them from the floor with low resonance.

Sounds unspectacular, but it's audible: a good stand isn't furniture, it's part of the speaker.

Our principle: we sell speaker stands in pairs, and the price shown is the price per pair. The few models only available singly are marked in the title with (each).

Why the stand is part of the sound

The right height for the ear, clean decoupling from the floor and stability, so the diaphragm does the work and not the cabinet. Only on the right stand does a bookshelf speaker show what it can do: precise imaging, a stable soundstage and a well-defined bass.

What matters

Height at ear level while seated, sufficient load capacity and footprint, plus the question of filling or coupling. Which stand suits your speakers and your floor is something we're happy to work out in person at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, with an honest recommendation instead of an off-the-shelf standard.

Who are speaker stands for? (Straight talk)

For anyone with bookshelf or compact speakers who wants to get the maximum out of their boxes. Straight talk: leave a good box on the sideboard or shelf and you're audibly giving away sound. The stand is the cheapest upgrade with the biggest effect per franc.

Our verdict

Speaker stands are the most unassuming and at the same time most effective accessory for bookshelf speakers. Tell us your speaker model and how you sit, and we'll find the stand that carries the sound instead of just putting it down.

Frequently asked questions

Does the price apply per pair or per single stand?

With us, the price shown applies to a pair, so two stands. That's the normal case, because bookshelf speakers stand in pairs. The few exceptions only available singly, such as the stands for the Cabasse The Pearl, carry the note (each) in the title. The sales unit is also stated for each product in the technical data.

What height is right for a speaker stand?

So that the tweeter sits roughly at ear height while seated – that's the key to clean treble and a coherent soundstage. Depending on the speaker and sofa, that's usually 60 to 80 cm. Tell us your speaker model, and we'll work out the right stand height for you.

Should I fill the stand or couple it?

Depending on the model, it can make sense: filling with sand or granulate increases mass and settles the cabinet, spikes couple the stand firmly to the floor. Both reduce resonance and make the bass more precise. We'll show you what helps with your stand and floor.

Does every stand fit my speakers?

No, footprint, height and load capacity have to match the speaker so it stands safely and with low resonance. A plate too small under a large speaker wobbles, one too tall pushes the tweeter above ear level. Tell us your model, and we'll recommend the right base.

Does a good stand really make an audible difference?

Yes, and more than many think. A stable, correctly high stand decouples the speaker from the floor and brings the tweeter to ear height, which sharpens imaging, soundstage and bass. Straight talk: the most expensive bookshelf speaker on a wobbly sideboard gives away part of its sound.

Why buy speaker stands from HD Zürisee?

Because the right stand depends on the speaker, seating height and floor, exactly the details you can't see at a glance online. We recommend to match your speakers and set everything up on-site on request. Personal advice on Lake Zürich in Wädenswil, with no sales pressure.
