Network

An audiophile network switch is a specialised Ethernet switch for the streaming chain that keeps electrical and digital noise away from the streamer and DAC. Clean data doesn't sound "better" – but a quiet network can make audible what your streamer can really do. Here you'll find audiophile network switches, linear power supplies, clocks and grounding solutions that reduce the high-frequency noise reaching your DAC. No voodoo, just fewer disturbances on the line.

What an audio switch really does

A switch from an electronics store transports data packets – that's it. An audiophile switch does the same thing, but with a better clock, galvanic isolation and a clean power supply. The goal isn't "more bits", but less RF clutter that creeps through the network cable into the streamer and DAC. Audibly this usually shows up as a calmer background and more precise imaging – not as "louder" or "more bass".

What belongs to network optimisation

  • Audio switches (Silent Angel Bonn N8/NX, NuPrime Omnia SW-8/SW-9X, KECES Ewave): decouple the streaming chain from the rest of the home network.
  • Linear power supplies (Silent Angel Forester F1/F2, KECES sets with DC cable): replace the wall adapter, deliver cleaner power.
  • Master clocks (Silent Angel Genesis GX/GC-10M/GC-25M): more precise timebase for switch and streamer.
  • Grounding & filters (Silent Angel FGC/FPC/LF-SP): channel disturbances away in a targeted way.

You can start small (a switch) and upgrade later – the parts build on each other.

Who it's worth it for – and who it isn't

Honestly: this is fine-tuning, not the first step. If your speakers, room and amplifier are already right and you stream regularly (Qobuz, Tidal, a local server), a clean network chain squeezes out the last bit. If you're still at the beginning or mainly listen to CD/vinyl, put your budget elsewhere first. We'll tell you that too, and you can hear everything on your own system at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Does an audio switch help with WiFi streaming?

Only to a limited extent – the effect happens in the wired stretch directly before the streamer and DAC. Over WiFi the benefit is smaller.

Do I absolutely need a linear power supply as well?

No, a good switch also works on its own. The linear power supply is the next upgrade step if you want more.

Can you really hear the difference?

That depends on your system, room and recording. On resolving systems it's usually audible, on entry-level setups hardly at all. Which is why: come compare with us.

Can I test this at home?

Yes. We bring the switch and power supply to you and you hear the difference on your own chain.

Why buy network accessories from HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you honestly whether the step is even worth it for your system, instead of selling you every stage. We bring switch, power supply and clock to you for comparison and advise you personally in Wädenswil. We deliver throughout Switzerland – free shipping from CHF 190.
