Outdoor speakers are speakers specifically built to be weatherproof for use outside – on the terrace, balcony, in the garden or around the pool. Unlike indoor boxes, they withstand moisture, UV radiation and temperature swings for years.
That means: you get real sound wherever life happens in summer – and you don't have to lug the speakers back inside at every cloud. That's exactly what the models here are made for.
What matters outdoors
Three things are decisive: a proper IP protection rating against dust and water, a UV-resistant housing that doesn't fade or turn brittle in the sun, and corrosion-resistant grilles along with sturdy mounting brackets. Then there's the right placement – a bit sheltered under an overhang keeps any speaker going longer than smack in the middle of the weather.
Who it's for – and who it isn't
Straight talk: A pair of outdoor speakers doesn't replace a high-end stereo system in a listening room – that's not their job either. But for relaxed, powerful sound on the terrace and in the garden, they're exactly right. If you're thinking of multiroom all the way out into the outdoor area, combine them with the right amplifier or streaming system.

Frequently asked questions
What are outdoor speakers?
Outdoor speakers are weatherproof speakers built for permanent use outside. Housing, drivers and connections stand up to rain, UV radiation and frost. You mount them on the house wall, on the terrace or in the garden – and get the same clean sound outside as inside, without the first summer rain ruining your speakers.
What do I need to look out for with weatherproof speakers?
Pay attention to the IP protection rating, a UV-resistant housing and corrosion-resistant grilles. The higher the IP number, the better the protection against dust and water. Also important are sturdy mounting brackets and a somewhat sheltered placement – no speaker lasts forever in constant direct rain, not even the toughest one.
How do I connect outdoor speakers?
Outdoor speakers are connected to an amplifier or receiver just like normal passive speakers – usually indoors, with weatherproof speaker cable routed outside. For larger areas or multiple zones, an amplifier with sufficient power is recommended. We're happy to help you at HD Zürisee plan the cable routing and amplifier.
