Collection: MOON

MOON is built by Simaudio in Boucherville, Canada – integrated amplifiers, preamps/power amps, DACs, streamers and CD players for people who see their system as a long-term purchase. Not a trendy lifestyle gadget, but solidly built high-end electronics with a low noise floor, powerful power supplies and a neutral, musical sound signature. Simaudio gives ten years of warranty on most devices – which says a lot about how much they expect these to last.

At our place by Lake Zurich, MOON is the high-end line in the store. In Wädenswil you can hear the North Collection demo-ready, and we'll tell you honestly which device fits your system and your budget.

The MOON range at our store

  • Integrated amplifiers – from the 250i V2 through the networked 371 (Compass) to the 641 (North Collection), including the compact, streaming-capable ACE.
  • Preamps & power amps – the Compass and North Collection combinations of streaming preamp (491, 791, 891) and stereo power amp (461, 761, 861) for more power and flexibility.
  • Streamer & DAC – the 681 (North Collection) brings high-resolution streaming and D/A conversion into the system.
  • CD & phono – the 260D as a CD transport with DAC (plus the transport-only 260DT), plus the 110LP V2 and 310LP phono stages for the turntable.
  • Speakers & accessories – the Voice 22 bookshelf speaker with its 22 stand, plus ready-matched complete systems and HiFi sets.

Honestly

MOON plays in the top league, and that comes at a price – it's an investment, not a bargain. In return you get build quality, longevity and a sound that stays clean while still being musical. The North Collection is the current spearhead; the classic line (250i V2 and friends) remains the more reasonable price level within the MOON world. If you just want a cheap streaming box, you're better served by Bluesound or WiiM in our range. If you want something that brings joy for years and grows with you, MOON is worth it.

Frequently asked questions about MOON

What's the difference between the North Collection and the classic MOON line?

The North Collection (641, 681, 761, 791, 861, 891) is the current top generation with a new chassis concept, more power and integrated streaming. The classic line, like the 250i V2, is more affordable and still strong – plenty for many rooms and budgets. We'll help you work out where the extra cost really pays off.

Do I need a subscription or extra hardware for MOON streaming?

Streaming runs through Simaudio's MiND app, which is built into the relevant devices (e.g. 371, 681, 791, 891 or ACE). Services like Tidal, Qobuz or Spotify Connect need their own subscription, MiND itself costs nothing extra. The app also controls multiroom across several MOON devices.

Integrated amp or separate preamp/power amp – which makes more sense?

An integrated amp is more compact, cheaper and ideal for most systems. Separate pre- and power amps cleanly split sensitive preamplification from powerful amplification, which becomes audible with larger speakers and higher demands – but it costs more money, space and cabling. Tell us which speakers you're running, and we'll tell you whether the step up is worth it.

Can I hear MOON at your store or test it at home?

The North Collection is set up demo-ready at our place in Wädenswil. Not every model is permanently set up, but we'll put together the right combination for you and, on request, bring it to your home – including tuning it to your room. Room acoustics is a core skill of ours.
