MOON 641 Integrated Amplifier, North Collection

The MOON 641 is a fully integrated stereo amplifier from the MOON North Collection that combines preamplifier and power amp in one chassis.

It delivers 125 watts per channel into 8 ohms and is hand-built by Simaudio in Boucherville near Montréal – a mature, controlled amplifier for anyone who just wants to connect a source and listen to music at its best.

Why the MOON 641?

At its core works MOON's MDCA circuit (Distortion-Cancelling Amplifier), which reduces distortion without global negative feedback – the signal stays clean and unaltered. The consistent dual-mono design gives each channel its own power supply, which maximises channel separation (crosstalk –109 dB) and delivers a stable, wide soundstage. The M-VOL3 volume control works in fine, precise steps, the 4.3-inch colour display keeps you informed, and via MOONLink you integrate the 641 into a larger MOON system.

What you hear

Power with control: with a damping factor of 700, the 641 grips the speakers firmly, bass arrives tight and defined, the midrange stays natural, the treble clean. Instead of adding its own colour, it delivers the recording as it is – calm, dynamic and effortless even over hours.

Who is the 641 for?

For anyone who wants an uncompromising integrated amplifier as the heart of a high-quality system. Honest take: the 641 is a pure amplifier – no streamer, no DAC, no phono stage built in. You need a source alongside it (the MOON 681 is the perfect partner, as is any good streamer, CD player or turntable with phono stage). At 26 kg and 46.5 cm deep, it needs a stable, deep rack. And yes: North Collection is the top tier, and the price reflects that.

Our verdict

The 641 is the integrated amplifier for anyone who wants reference-level power, calm and build quality without jumping straight to separate pre-/power amps. Which speakers and sources fit it best, we work out together at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil – tell us about your room.
