Canton Pro XL.3 Outdoor Compact Speaker, Black (Pair)

The Canton Pro XL.3 is a universal indoor and outdoor compact speaker with a moisture-protected housing that you can either place freely or mount on a wall or ceiling using the included bracket.

Technically it's closely related to the Plus XL.3 – same drivers, same size – but built for a rougher life: patio, garden, pergola, conservatory or bathroom. Where the Plus XL.3 stays in the living room, the Pro XL.3 also stands up to moisture and temperature swings.

Why the Canton Pro XL.3?

Because music shouldn't have to stop at the patio door, yet a regular living-room speaker gives up outdoors after the first damp autumn week. A 130 mm aluminium woofer and a 25 mm aluminium-manganese tweeter sit in a long-term stable, moisture-protected housing built exactly for this job.

What you hear

A mature, balanced sound that doesn't thin out outdoors either – plenty for a garden party, pool or patio, though not what an audiophile listening session demands. Indoors, as an effects or extra speaker in moisture-prone rooms like a bathroom or conservatory, it also cuts a good figure.

Who is the Canton Pro XL.3 for?

For anyone who wants music where a regular speaker wouldn't survive long – balcony, garden, poolside. Bottom line: it's not made for permanent frost exposure in winter, and if you only ever sit in a dry living room, save your money and go for the cheaper Plus XL.3.

Our verdict

The Pro XL.3 delivers what many outdoor speakers promise and rarely keep: it sounds like a "real" speaker, not a weather radio. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we plan with you how many speakers your garden or patio actually needs – usually fewer than you'd first think.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Canton Pro XL.3 survive the whole winter outdoors?

The housing is moisture-protected and built for long-term stability, so it's made for occasional rain and moisture. For permanent frost or direct weather exposure without any shelter, we still recommend taking it down seasonally or mounting it in a well-protected spot.

What's the difference between the Pro XL.3 and the Plus XL.3?

The drivers are identical; the difference is in the housing: the Pro XL.3 is moisture-protected for outdoor and damp-room use, while the Plus XL.3 stays reserved for dry indoor spaces.

Can I also use the Pro XL.3 indoors?

Yes, without any problem, for example in a bathroom, conservatory or basement. The moisture protection doesn't hurt in a dry living room, but it also doesn't add anything extra to the sound there.

Which amplifier suits the Pro XL.3?

A solid outdoor-rated amplifier or a multiroom amplifier with weatherproof wiring, assuming an output impedance of 4 to 8 ohms. We're happy to work out with you what makes sense for your patio.

Why buy the Canton Pro XL.3 from HD Zürisee?

Because outdoor sound needs more planning than just "buy two speakers" – cable routing, amplifier placement, weather protection. Our specialist team in Wädenswil thinks it through with you and, if needed, supplies the matching wiring right away. Give us a call or drop us a line.

Goes well with

A weatherproof speaker cable, a matching amplifier with enough headroom and, for indoors, more bookshelf speakers from the brand. You'll find the full brand range in the CANTON overview.
