Collection: CANTON

Canton is a German loudspeaker manufacturer from Weilrod in the Taunus that has been building floorstanding, bookshelf, on-wall, in-wall and ceiling speakers as well as subwoofers, soundbars, complete home cinema sets and active streaming systems since 1972. The upper series are still made at the home site today, the GLE series at Canton's plant in Tachov, Czech Republic. No craft-workshop mythology with parts selected by full moon, but engineering work with a measurement lab.

The Canton series in our range

  • Vento – the upper line from Weilrod, ceramic-coated domes, multi-layer cabinets.
  • Plus / Pro – bookshelf speakers for the living room (Plus) and weatherproof outdoor speakers for terrace and garden (Pro).

What you choose by

First the form factor: freestanding, visible on the wall, invisibly built in, or as a complete set. Then the room – small rooms don't need a three-way tower, and outdoors only the weatherproof Pro series belongs anyway. Last, passive or active: you combine passive Canton freely with your amplifier, while Smart and AM bring the power amp along. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we place this honestly for you; Mauri, our technician, handles installation and service on site – with in-wall speakers and home cinema sets, the difference between “fits” and “we should have asked first”.

Frequently asked questions

Passive Canton or the active Smart series?

Passive models need an amplifier, but can be combined freely. The Smart series has power amps and streaming built in, but locks you into the Canton system. If you already have an amplifier: go passive.

What's the difference between GLE S2, Townus and Vento?

GLE S2 is the entry series with a straightforward sound. Townus focuses on bigger drivers, Vento on finer resolution and more elaborate build. The difference is clear, but not a different world.

Can Canton in-wall speakers be retrofitted?

Mostly yes – what matters is installation depth, cavity and cable routing. Atelier InWall and InCeiling cover wall and ceiling, Atelier OnWall hangs visibly on the wall when nothing can be built in at all. Describe your wall construction to us, and we'll clarify it in advance.

Do I need an additional amplifier for a Canton Movie set?

Yes, satellites and center are passive – only the subwoofer has its own power amp. For the remaining channels you need an AV receiver or Canton's Smart Amp 5.1. Tell us what you already have, and we'll tell you whether it fits.
