Thorens TD 124 DD Exclusive incl. EMT Tondose

The Thorens TD 124 DD Exclusive incl. EMT Tondose is the ready-to-play reference version of the 124 DD icon – with the 12-inch TP 124 tonearm, internal pure-silver wiring, a copper platter mat and the EMT Tondose already mounted at the factory.

The base remains the multi-award-winning TD 124 DD with its powerful direct drive. In this version, the EMT Tondose, developed specifically for the TP 124, is already mounted and aligned – you unpack it, set it up, and listen.

Why the Exclusive with EMT?

Because of the upgrades that make the difference – combined turnkey. The longer 12-inch TP 124 significantly reduces the tracking angle error and minimizes distortion across the entire side of the record. The internal pure-silver wiring keeps the signal clean all the way to the output, especially effective with the EMT Tondose's quiet MC signal. A platter mat made of pure copper improves acoustic coupling and dampens resonances, while the TPN 124 linear power supply ensures a clean, stable power feed. And the EMT Tondose, with its ruby cantilever, Gyger stylus and gold-wire coils, is already perfectly tuned to the 12-inch arm.

What you hear

Calm, scale and resolution at reference level. The longer arm, the pure silver in the signal path and the EMT Tondose bring details and tonal colors precisely into focus, while the copper mat takes the last bit of restlessness out of the soundstage. This is analog playback you no longer want to optimize, only enjoy.

Who is this version for?

For analog enthusiasts who uncompromisingly want the best of the 124 DD platform – and complete, without having to search for and align a cartridge themselves. The EMT Tondose is already on board.

Honestly: this is top-drawer high-end, built to still delight in 20 years. For the optimum, you need a first-class MC phono stage with the matching termination. That's exactly where we advise you personally.

Frequently asked questions

What distinguishes the Exclusive from the standard 124 DD?
Four things: the 12-inch TP 124 tonearm instead of 9 inches (lower tracking angle error), the internal pure-silver wiring, the platter mat made of pure copper, and the included TPN 124 linear power supply. In this version, the matching EMT Tondose comes already mounted on top of that.

Which cartridge is mounted?
The EMT Tondose – a Swiss high-end MC system developed specifically for the 12-inch TP 124. It's mounted and aligned at the factory, so the turntable arrives at your place ready to play. We take care of the final fine-tuning at delivery.

What is the EMT Tondose?
A Swiss moving-coil cartridge in the design of the legendary "Tondose" from broadcast technology, specifically optimized for the 12-inch TP 124. With an SME connector, ruby cantilever, Gyger stylus and gold-wire coils, it aims for outstanding channel separation, dynamics and resolution of detail.

What does the 12-inch arm bring?
A longer tonearm guides the stylus through the groove at a flatter angle. This reduces the tracking angle error and therefore distortion – especially in the critical inner grooves.

Why buy the Exclusive with EMT at HD Zürisee?
Because a turntable of this class only shows its full potential after uncompromising setup – geometry, tracking force, anti-skate, phono stage termination. That's exactly what we do. We let you listen beforehand, deliver, set it up on site, and remain your point of contact, straight from Wädenswil.
