The Technics SB-C600 is a passive 2-way bookshelf speaker with a coaxial driver that, as a compact pair, brings surprisingly mature, precisely locatable sound into the living room.
Until now, the SB-C600 was almost only available bundled with the SA-C600 amplifier. Now you can get the pair on its own – for anyone who already has an amplifier or wants to combine deliberately.
Why the SB-C600?
The heart of it is the coaxial driver: the 25 mm aluminium tweeter sits right in the centre of the 15 cm mid-woofer, so both radiate from a single point. The result is a soundstage that doesn't depend on whether you sit dead centre or listen at an angle from the kitchen – the sound stays coherent and cohesive. Typically for Technics, this compact cabinet packs in more engineering than some floorstanding speakers.
What you hear
For their size, the SB-C600 play astonishingly assuredly: clear, uncoloured mids, a cleanly locatable soundstage and bass that reaches down to 40 Hz without becoming bloated. Voices stand precisely in the room, instruments keep their outline. No fireworks of effects, but the kind of neutrality that doesn't tire you out even after hours.
Who is the SB-C600 suited for? (and who it isn't)
Plain talk: the SB-C600 is for anyone who wants genuine hi-fi sound in a small space – on a shelf, on stands, in a city apartment by Lake Zürich. It's a perfect match for the SA-C600, but pairs just as well with any clean amplifier between 40 and 120 watts. If you want to fill a large room or drive home-cinema levels, floorstanding speakers are the better choice – the compacts aren't built for that. And without stands or a solid shelf, you give away part of their potential.
Our verdict
The SB-C600 is proof that good doesn't have to mean big. An honest, neutral bookshelf speaker with a clever coaxial concept that plays far beyond its size – and is finally available on its own.

Frequently asked questions
What does the coaxial driver do for the SB-C600? A coaxial driver places the tweeter at the centre of the mid-woofer, so both radiate from a single point. That creates a particularly coherent, precisely locatable soundstage – even if you're not sitting exactly in the stereo sweet spot. That's exactly what makes the compact SB-C600 so practical for everyday use.
Which amplifier suits the SB-C600? Ideal is an amplifier with 40 to 120 watts at 4 ohms. The Technics SA-C600 is the natural partner, but any clean integrated amplifier in this power range works excellently. Bring us your device or your target budget – we'll tell you what matches sonically.
Are the SB-C600 supplied as a pair? Yes, the stated price is for the complete pair. So you get two speakers including covers. If you need a different quantity or configuration, just get in touch – we'll put together your set.
Do the SB-C600 fit on a shelf, or do they need stands? Both work. At 173 × 297 × 287 mm they fit most shelves. But sonically you get the most out of them on stable stands or a solid sideboard, with a bit of space behind them. We're happy to advise you on placement in your room.
