The Scansonic HD Q3 is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a ribbon tweeter and carbon drivers in a bass-reflex cabinet, here in real walnut wood veneer.

The warm wood grain turns the Q3 into a cozy piece of furniture – Raidho technology in a friendly natural-wood coat.

Why the Q3?

Like Raidho, Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish manufacturer Dantax, and the Raidho-inspired ribbon tweeter defines the sound: a feather-light foil diaphragm, silky and detailed highs. Two 5.25-inch carbon drivers handle mids and bass in a 2.5-way arrangement.

The walnut veneer is real wood and explains the premium over the lacquered versions. The technology and tuning are identical – you get the same Q3 in a warmer look.

Why does the walnut version cost more?

Because it's real wood veneer instead of a lacquered finish. Natural wood takes more effort to select and process, and every grain is unique. Sonically, the walnut version is identical – the premium is purely in the finish.

Is the price for a pair or a single unit?

The Q3 is sold in pairs; the price applies to both speakers. As a floorstanding speaker it needs no stands. So your stereo pair is complete with a single purchase.

How deep does the Q3 reach in the bass?

The Q3 goes down to around 52 Hz, clean and coherent for music in small to medium rooms. For home cinema deep bass, a subwoofer or a larger Q model is recommended. For stereo, its low-end extension is well balanced.
