Scansonic HD Q10 Floorstanding Speaker, Black (Pair)

The Scansonic HD Q10 is the 3-way floorstanding flagship of the Q series, with a ribbon tweeter, carbon midrange driver and two 8-inch woofers in a bass-reflex cabinet.

In black, the Q10 comes across as composed and mature – the largest model in the Q series, built for large rooms where a smaller speaker would give up.

Why the Q10?

Like Raidho, Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish manufacturer Dantax, and the Raidho-inspired ribbon tweeter delivers the fine, detailed top end. As a genuine three-way design, the Q10 has its own carbon midrange driver in a separate module – keeping the midrange free of interference. Below it, two 8-inch woofers provide a powerful foundation.

The bass-reflex cabinet extends the low end down to 41 Hz without thickening the sound. The lightweight carbon diaphragms deliver fast, precise impulses.

What you hear

A big, effortless performance with dry, powerful bass from two 8-inch drivers and crystal-clear, standalone mids. The Q10 renders a wide, stable soundstage and resolves the finest detail. Even at high levels and in large rooms it stays controlled and composed.

The separate midrange driver makes voices and instruments especially tangible, while the ribbon tweeter adds an airy, precise top end.

Who is the Q10 for?

For large rooms and listeners who want the top model of the Q series with genuine low-end extension. Ideal with a powerful, high-quality integrated amplifier or streaming amplifier. Plain talk: with 4 ohms and two 8-inch woofers, the Q10 wants an amplifier with reserves and a room that can handle its bass – in a small room it plays below its potential. For large spaces it's the reference of the Q series.

Our verdict

The Q10 is the pinnacle of the Q series – a fully-grown three-way design with the depth and composure that two 8-inch woofers and a dedicated midrange driver make possible. We at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil advise you on room, amplifier and placement so this flagship plays big and clean instead of booming.

Frequently asked questions

Is the price for a pair or a single unit?

The Q10 is sold in pairs; the stated price applies to both speakers. As a floorstanding speaker it needs no stands. So you get your complete stereo flagship with a single purchase.

What's the difference between the Q10 and the Q8?

The Q10 has two 8-inch woofers instead of one, is larger and reaches deeper. That lets it fill larger rooms more effortlessly and with more foundation. The Q8 is enough for medium-sized rooms – which one fits depends on room size and taste.

What room size suits the Q10?

It's built for large rooms, ideally from around 30 square metres upward. In small rooms, the bass from the two 8-inch drivers can become too dominant. We're happy to advise you personally on the right choice and placement.

Which amplifier suits the Q10?

A powerful, high-quality integrated amplifier or streaming amplifier with reserves is ideal. With 4 ohms and two woofers, it rewards stable, controlled power with precise bass. Which chain suits your room is something we'll work out together.
