Scansonic HD MB Center B Center Channel Speaker, Walnut (Piece)

The Scansonic HD MB Center B is the center channel speaker of the MB series – with the same ribbon tweeter and the same carbon driver section as the MB floorstanding speakers, tuned for clear, present voices, here in real walnut wood veneer.

The warm wood turns this home cinema building block into a living-room piece of furniture – while still handling the most important job: making sure you understand every word.

Why the MB Center B?

In home cinema, most of the film runs through the center channel – dialogue, voices, half the plot. That's why Scansonic builds it around the same sealed ribbon tweeter as the large MB models and combines it with two 5.25-inch carbon drivers from the MB2.5. The result is big, effortless dynamics and voices that stand out cleanly from the action.

Because the tweeter and drivers are identical to the rest of the MB series, the center blends seamlessly with an MB floorstanding pair – no break in tone when the sound pans from left to right. The walnut veneer is real wood and matches the walnut models of the series visually.

What you hear

Intelligible, natural voices even with plenty of action in the background, plus speed and resolution from the ribbon. The center stays precise without turning harsh, and delivers enough headroom for large rooms.

Who is the MB Center B for?

For anyone building an MB or Q home cinema who wants a tonally matching center in warm wood. Plain talk: as a pure stereo listener, you don't need it – its purpose is the multi-channel setup. It's best combined with MB front and surround speakers so the tonal colours match all the way around.

Our verdict

A center that consistently translates the strengths of the MB series into speech intelligibility – in the coziest finish. We at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil plan your whole home cinema for you – from the matching center to surrounds and placement.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the walnut version cost more?

Because it's real wood veneer instead of silky matte lacquer. Natural wood takes more effort to select and process, and every grain is unique. Sonically, the walnut version is identical to black and white – the premium is purely in the finish.

Is the MB Center B sold individually?

Yes, the center is a single speaker; the stated price applies per piece. In a home cinema you need exactly one center, positioned centrally under or above the screen. Front and surround speakers are purchased separately.

Does the MB Center B match my MB speakers?

Yes. It uses the same ribbon tweeter and the same carbon driver section as the MB series, so it blends tonally seamlessly with an MB front pair. It also pairs well with the Q series. Which combination suits your room is something we're happy to work out.

How much amplifier power does the MB Center B need?

Scansonic recommends a high-quality amplifier or AV receiver from around 50 watts. More important than raw power is clean drive of the center channel. Which receiver suits your setup is something we're happy to discuss with you personally.
