The Scansonic HD MB3.5 B is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a ribbon tweeter, carbon mid-woofers and two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers, here in genuine walnut wood veneer.

Why the MB3.5 B?

Scansonic HD belongs, like Raidho, to the Danish manufacturer Dantax – hence the ribbon tweeter with its clamped foil diaphragm for silky highs. Two 4.5-inch carbon mid-woofers and two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers deliver depth from a narrow cabinet.

The walnut veneer is genuine wood and explains the premium over the painted versions. The technology and tuning are identical – you get the same MB3.5 B in a warmer look.

What you hear

Tight, deep bass down to 27 Hz, clear mids and finely resolved highs on a large, stable soundstage. The MB3.5 B stays controlled and clean even with plenty of low end. The narrow front is deceptive – it sounds big and assured.
