The Scansonic HD MB3.5 B is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a ribbon tweeter, carbon mid-woofers and two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers.

In silky matte white, the narrow column blends brightly and unobtrusively into the room – and then surprises with a bass you wouldn't guess from the front.

Why the MB3.5 B?

Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish Dantax group, which also includes Raidho – hence the fine ribbon tweeter with its clamped foil diaphragm. Two 4.5-inch carbon mid-woofers handle mids and midrange, two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers handle the foundation – all in a strikingly narrow cabinet.

High-quality crossover components and a heavily braced, curved cabinet ensure a clean, low-resonance sound. The adjustable aluminium feet make placement precise.

What you hear

Bass down to 27 Hz, tight and dry, plus clear mids and silky highs. The MB3.5 B builds a large, calm soundstage and resolves even fine details confidently. Despite the powerful low end, it stays controlled – no boom, but defined punch.

Thanks to the side-firing woofers, the slim box sounds noticeably bigger than it looks.

The MB3.5 B is sold in pairs, and the price applies to both speakers. As a floorstanding speaker it needs no stands. The matching front cover is available as a separate magnetic front grille in black.

Does the colour affect the sound?

No. Black, white and walnut use the same drivers and the same tuning. You choose the finish based on your interior, not the sound. The MB3.5 B sounds identical in every colour.

Why are the woofers on the side?

This keeps the front narrow while two 6.5-inch woofers offer plenty of cone area. This gives depth and level from an elegant cabinet. In return, the MB3.5 B wants a bit of air to the side walls.
