The Scansonic HD MB3.5 B is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a ribbon tweeter, carbon mid-woofers and two side-firing 6.5-inch woofers.

In silky matte black it looks understated – until it shows that it extracts a bass foundation from a narrow front that you'd sooner expect from a cabinet twice as wide.

Why the MB3.5 B?

Like Raidho, Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish manufacturer Dantax – hence the characteristic ribbon tweeter with its featherlight, clamped foil diaphragm. In the MB3.5 B, two 4.5-inch carbon mid-woofers meet two side-mounted 6.5-inch woofers that keep the cabinet slim while still delivering punch.

The crossover operates with minimum phase shift and high-quality components. The braced, curved cabinet with adjustable aluminium feet keeps resonances low and provides secure footing.

A powerful, dry bass foundation, clear mids and silky, finely resolved highs. The MB3.5 B reaches down to 27 Hz while staying controlled rather than loose. The soundstage is large and stable without the speaker sounding thick – it delivers substance, not gimmickry.

The side-firing 6.5-inch woofers allow a narrow front while still offering plenty of cone area. This brings depth and level without widening the cabinet. In return, the MB3.5 B wants some distance to side walls so the bass stays clean.
