The Scansonic HD MB2.5 B is a slim 2.5-way floorstanding speaker with a ribbon tweeter and two carbon drivers, here in genuine walnut veneer.

Why the MB2.5 B?

Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish Dantax group, which also includes Raidho – hence the fine ribbon tweeter with its featherlight, clamped foil diaphragm for silky highs. Two 5.25-inch carbon drivers form the 2.5-way system; the second specifically supports the bass.

The walnut veneer is real wood – that explains the premium over the lacquered versions. Technically and sonically it's the same MB2.5 B, just in natural wood instead of silk matte.

What you hear

A wide, precise soundstage with fine highs and tight bass down to 36 Hz. The MB2.5 B resolves details cleanly and stays coherent even with complex music. The slim front is deceptive – sonically it appears mature and confident.

Adjustable aluminium feet decouple it cleanly from the floor and provide secure footing on any surface.

Who is the MB2.5 B suited for?

Because it's genuine wood veneer rather than a lacquered finish. Natural wood is more elaborate in selection and processing, and each grain pattern is unique. Sonically the walnut version is identical to black and white – the premium is purely in the finish.
