Scansonic HD MB1 B Bookshelf Speaker, White (Pair)

The Scansonic HD MB1 B is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker that combines a ribbon tweeter derived from Raidho development with a carbon mid-woofer in a front-ported enclosure.

In silky matte white, it looks almost invisible against a light-coloured wall – until you start the music and wonder where such a big sound is coming from such a small cabinet.

Why the MB1 B?

Like Raidho, Scansonic HD belongs to the Danish manufacturer Dantax, and the ribbon tweeter is inherited from there: a wafer-thin foil diaphragm clamped all around, drawing highs finely and without harshness. The 5.25-inch mid-woofer works with a rigid carbon diaphragm and blends seamlessly with the tweeter.

Because the bass reflex port fires forward, you can place the MB1 B closer to the wall than most compact speakers – practical in rooms where you can't plan everything around the system.

What you hear

An airy, precise image with surprisingly deep, controlled bass. The MB1 B resolves fine details without becoming intrusive, and keeps even complex passages cleanly separated. The result sounds open and relaxed at the same time – something rarely achieved at this cabinet size.

The carbon plate on top and the internal bracing keep the cabinet inert and quiet. That way the soundstage stays stable instead of resonating with the cabinet.

Who is the MB1 B suited for?

For listeners who want uncompromising sound in a normal-sized living space without setting up large floorstanding speakers. Best with a clean integrated amplifier or streaming amplifier. Plain talk: it belongs on a stand (separate) and needs some air to the rear wall – squeezed onto a shelf, it plays below its level. For deep-bass home cinema spectacle, better to choose a floorstanding model or an additional subwoofer.

Is the price for a pair or a single unit?

The MB1 B is sold in pairs, and the listed price is for two speakers. That lets you plan your stereo setup right away. Matching stands from the MB series are available separately, and we're happy to advise you on the right height.

Does the white MB1 B sound the same as the black one?

Yes, the finish only changes the look, not the sound. Black, white and walnut use the same drivers and the same tuning. So you choose the colour purely based on your interior – sonically all three are identical.

Can I place the MB1 B close to the wall?

Yes, closer than most bookshelf speakers, because the bass reflex port faces forward. A nearby rear wall is therefore less critical. A few centimetres of distance still sound most open.
