The Meze Audio Astru is a high-end in-ear headphone (IEM) with a housing machined from a single block of pure titanium and a dynamic 10 mm driver.

Why the Astru?

At its core sits a dynamic 10 mm driver with a multi-layer composite diaphragm – a PEEK dome with 80 wafer-thin layers of gold and a titanium coating. The housing is CNC-machined from a single block of pure titanium and electroplated in several stages: extremely rigid, light and low in resonance. The detachable 2-pin cable (silver-plated LC-OFC) terminates in a balanced 4.4 mm connector – a 4.4-to-3.5 mm adapter is included, so it plays from any source.

Why a housing made of pure titanium?

Titanium is exceptionally rigid and low in resonance. A one-piece machined titanium housing suppresses unwanted self-resonance and lets the 10 mm driver work more cleanly – you hear that as a clear, uncoloured reproduction. It's also lightweight and remarkably durable.

What does the 4.4 mm balanced connector mean – does it fit my device?

The included cable terminates in a balanced 4.4 mm plug, as found on many better players and DAC/amps. An adapter is included for standard 3.5 mm jacks. The Astru plays out its full potential on a genuine balanced output.

Is the Astru also suitable for on the go?

Yes. As a closed in-ear it isolates well from the outside and sits securely thanks to the five ear-tip sizes. At 13.4 g it's feather-light. For maximum sound quality on the move, a small DAC/amp with a balanced output is recommended.
