The IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 16 A is a DC blocker for high loads that removes DC components from the mains and lets even powerful power amps run silently and dynamically.

Same job as its 10 A sibling, but a size up: a larger C20 input, more headroom, designed as a "gatekeeper" ahead of an entire system or a power-hungry power amp.

Why the V5 Syncro Uni 16 A?

Even small amounts of DC voltage on the mains – often from dimmers, switch-mode power supplies or PV systems nearby – drive the transformer core into saturation: it hums mechanically, heats up, ages. The Syncro Uni 16 A rebalances the sine wave around the zero line and eliminates DC components up to 4 volts. The V5 circuit delivers 260% more current capacity than the previous generation (internal peak current 32 A), uses 36 copper/silver capacitors at 169,000 µF and silver-plated 6N-OFC conductors with FEP dielectric. The board could easily run at 32 A – conservatively limited to a 16 A input for reliable continuous performance. Thermomagnetic protection buffers spikes above 500 A.

What you hear

The same calm as the 10 A version – just with headroom for the very largest transformers. The hum from the power amp disappears, the background turns pitch-black, bass gains contour and authority. Because saturation is no longer an issue, the power amp draws current unrestrained at the big drum hits.

Who is the V5 Syncro Uni 16 A for? (and who it's not for — straight talk)

For power-hungry power amps and monoblocks – or as a pre-filter ahead of a complete chain or a large power strip. Straight talk: for a normal integrated amp, the 10 A version is more than enough; the 16 A only pays off once real current is flowing or an entire system hangs behind it. And the chassis is substantial – plan a fixed spot in the rack, not the wire basket behind the system.

Our verdict

The powerful variant of the Syncro principle: 32 A of headroom, C20 input, built for powerhouses and entire systems. If a large power amp hums or you want to run the complete chain through a pre-filter, the 16 A is the right choice. The trade press sees it the same way: the V5 Syncro Uni 16 carries the hi-fi+ Editor's Choice Award 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 16 A and 10 A?

The 16 A version has a larger C20 input, higher current headroom (32 A peak instead of 16 A) and more capacitor capacity. It's meant for powerful power amps or as a pre-filter ahead of an entire system; the 10 A is enough for individual integrated amps or sources.

Which mains cable do I need for the Syncro Uni 16 A?

Because of the larger C20 input you need a cable with a C19 plug, for example the IsoTek EVO3 Premier. A standard C13 cable doesn't fit here. At HD Zürisee we put together the right combination for your power amp.

Why buy the IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 16 A at HD Zürisee?

Because the choice between 10 and 16 A depends on your power amp and setup. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil clarifies this in conversation, supplies as an authorized IsoTek dealer with its own technician, and installs on-site on request.
