The IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 10 A is a DC blocker that removes DC components from the mains supply and so stops the mechanical hum of transformers.

It sits between the wall outlet and the device – or as a first stage ahead of your power strip – and corrects the sine wave exactly where it's skewed. Not a sound filter that adds something, but a problem solver that takes something away: the annoying hum coming from the power amp.

Why the V5 Syncro Uni 10 A?

DC voltage on the AC mains – caused for example by dimmers, heat pumps or PV systems nearby – drives the transformer core into saturation. The result: the transformer vibrates audibly, gets warmer and ages faster. The Syncro Uni eliminates DC components up to 4 volts and rebalances the sine wave around the zero line. The V5 generation adds 60% more current capacity over the previous generation (internal peak current 16 A), uses 16 copper/silver capacitors at 75,000 µF and silver-plated 6N-OFC conductors with FEP dielectric. A thermomagnetic protection buffers spikes above 500 A.

What you hear

Above all, quiet. The power amp no longer hums mechanically and runs cooler – sonically, the background recedes further and fine details emerge more clearly. No dynamics are lost in the process – quite the opposite: because the transformer no longer fights saturation, the power amp can deliver more current when it's needed.

Who is the V5 Syncro Uni 10 A for? (and who it's not for — straight talk)

Ideal for integrated amps and source devices with a large toroidal transformer that hums audibly at idle. Straight talk: if you run only small switch-mode power supplies (cheap streamers, plug-in adapters), you'll hardly notice a difference – the hum problem affects transformers, not switch-mode supplies. And if you want to power a really powerful amp or the whole chain, go for the 16 A version with C20 input instead.

Our verdict

A targeted problem solver, not a sonic beautifier: if your power amp hums, the Syncro Uni 10 A brings quiet to both the device and the listening room – mechanically and sonically. The right size for individual amps; for a whole system, take the big brother.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I connect the IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 10 A?

Directly after the wall outlet – either ahead of your most powerful amplifier or as a first stage ahead of a power strip. The input is a C14 connector; you choose the matching IsoTek mains cable based on your chain and taste.

What's the difference between the Syncro Uni 10 A and 16 A?

The 10 A version has a C14 input and 16 A internal peak current – right for individual integrated amps or sources with a humming toroidal transformer. The 16 A version (C20, 32 A peak) is meant for powerful power amps or as a pre-filter ahead of an entire system.

Why buy the IsoTek V5 Syncro Uni 10 A at HD Zürisee?

Because transformer hum has several possible causes, and not every device benefits. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil tells you honestly whether the Syncro Uni solves your problem, and advises as an authorized IsoTek dealer with its own technician before you invest in the wrong stage.
