IsoTek EVO3 Syncro Uni 10 A DC Blocker, Silver

The IsoTek EVO3 Syncro Uni 10 A is a DC blocker and mains pre-filter that removes DC components from the power grid and thereby stops the mechanical hum of transformers.

It sits between the wall socket and the device – or as the first stage in front of a power strip or power conditioner – and rebalances the sine wave around the zero line. Not a tone filter that adds something, but a problem solver that takes something away: the nightly buzzing from the amplifier.

Why the EVO3 Syncro Uni 10 A?

DC in the AC mains drives a toroidal transformer into saturation – it vibrates audibly, runs warmer and ages faster. The Syncro Uni corrects exactly that. Inside, silver-plated OCC copper conductors do the work; the housing is steel and aluminium. This model is the EVO3 version of the Syncro family; we list the more recent V5 generation as a separate product.

What you hear

Above all, quiet. A transformer that no longer hums runs cooler – and the background becomes audibly darker. Dynamics and tonal colour are left untouched, because the Syncro Uni does not colour the sound, it relieves the load.

Who is the EVO3 Syncro Uni 10 A for? (and who is it not for – plain talk)

For integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers and sources with a larger toroidal transformer that hum at high frequency at idle. Plain talk: if you only run devices with small switch-mode power supplies, you will hear hardly any difference – the hum problem affects transformers. For powerful power amplifiers or a whole chain, go for the 16 A version with C20 input instead.

Where do I connect the EVO3 Syncro Uni 10 A?

Directly after the wall socket: either in front of your amplifier or as the first stage in front of a power strip. The input is a C14 connector; you choose the matching power cable according to your chain and taste. We are happy to help you find the right one.

Does a Swiss plug fit the output?

The output is a Schuko socket. The power cable of the downstream device therefore needs a Schuko plug. If you want to use Swiss plugs throughout, the V5 generation is the better choice, as it is also available as a Swiss version. We will advise you on the choice.

Is the Syncro Uni also available in black?

The Syncro Uni exists in silver and black. We currently stock the 10 A version in silver and the 16 A version in black. You can enquire about other combinations and we will check availability for you.
