The HD ONE Bi-Wire is a hand-assembled high-end speaker cable that drives your speaker's treble and bass branches via separate conductor pairs.

It's built by us in Wädenswil: HD ONE is HD Zürisee's own house brand, not a bought-in label.

Why the HD ONE in bi-wire?

Let's be honest: a cable doesn't make your sound better, but one that's too thin or sloppily assembled makes it worse. That's why the HD ONE packs in plenty of proper copper: silver-plated OFC strands for the treble, tinned ones for the bass, with insulation between the conductors.

Bi-wiring means: the powerful currents of the woofer and the fine signals of the tweeter run separately all the way to the terminal. That usually brings a bit more calm to the soundstage. Straight talk: it's not a miniature system upgrade.

What you get

A fully assembled stereo set to your length, with spread-type banana plugs in 24-carat gold plating at every end: two plugs on the amplifier side, four on the speaker side, per channel. No stripping, no crimping, no DIY afternoon.

Who is the HD ONE Bi-Wire for?

For you, if your speakers have two pairs of terminals and the bridges between them can be removed. Straight talk: with only one pair of terminals, bi-wire achieves exactly nothing – then the single-wire version is the honest answer. And if you leave the metal bridges in place out of convenience, you're still effectively running single-wire despite the four conductors.

Our verdict

Plenty of copper, separate signal paths, solid handiwork, and plugs that still sit tight after years. Not a magic wand, but the link you no longer need to think about.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need special speakers for bi-wire?

Yes. Your speaker needs two pairs of terminals, one for the treble and one for the bass, and the bridges between them must be removable. If they stay in, both branches are electrically joined together again and the cable effectively works as single-wire. A glance at the terminal is enough to tell.

What does bi-wiring do sonically, and when does it do nothing?

Separate conductor pairs keep the powerful bass currents away from the treble branch, which many perceive as a calmer soundstage and finer resolution. It does nothing for speakers with only one pair of terminals, with permanently soldered bridges, or when the existing cable is simply too thin. In that case, address the cross-section first.

What length should I choose?

Measure the actual cable run along the wall, skirting board and rack, not the straight-line distance, and add a bit of slack. We build the set in 0.5-metre steps from 2 × 0.5 to 2 × 5.0 metres. Both channels get the same length, even if one speaker sits closer.

Which connectors are fitted?

Spread-type banana plugs with 24-carat gold plating, fully fitted at every end. Per channel, that's two plugs on the amplifier side and four on the speaker side. The spread mechanism ensures a firm fit in the socket, and the gold layer keeps contact resistance stable for years. Please ask about other connection types before ordering.
