The DALI Sub E-12 F is an active 12-inch subwoofer from Denmark with a downfiring bass reflex port and a built-in 170-watt Class D amplifier, built as the deep-bass foundation for stereo and home cinema systems.
In the matte Black Ash finish it disappears into the room instead of dominating it – and that's exactly how a subwoofer should work. The core of the concept is the bare aluminium cone: stiff, light and without a dust cap, so it moves like a piston and settles again immediately. That fast attack and decay is exactly what separates a good deep-bass driver from one that just booms. An aluminium base lifts the cabinet 30 mm off the floor, calms the airflow at the downfiring port and gives you more freedom in placement, right up close to the wall.
Why the Sub E-12 F?
Because it has speed. Many subwoofers this size deliver punch but lag a heartbeat behind the rest of the music – on the E-12 F, the bass stays dry and precise. The 170 watts continuous power (220 watts peak) from the Class D amplifier keep enough reserve that even heavy film soundtracks don't buckle, and the built-in limiter protects the driver from overload. Via LFE or line input, it fits practically any amplifier or AV receiver.
What you get
A compact active subwoofer in a solid MDF cabinet, matte in Black Ash, with a magnetically held black front grille included from the factory – take it off and the bare aluminium cone flashes into view. You set volume, phase and upper crossover frequency on the back; it switches itself on and off via signal detection. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we help you integrate it cleanly into your existing system.
Who is the Sub E-12 F suited to?
Plain talk: if you like mushy, rubber-band bass, you won't be happy here – the E-12 F is tuned for precision, not effect. And for a noise-sensitive two-room flat, its 112 dB maximum level is almost a statement of intent to the neighbours. In medium-sized living spaces, as a complement to bookshelf or slim floorstanding speakers, though, it plays exactly to its strength: a deep 28 Hz, clean and controlled.
Our verdict
The Sub E-12 F is the unassuming type that does the work: compact enough for the living room, fast enough for music, powerful enough for movie night. If you want to extend your bookshelf or floorstanding speakers downward without overpowering them tonally, this is the right choice. The Black Ash finish is the more discreet of the two – it readily blends into dark furniture and media walls. Honestly: when did you last hear your bass instead of just enduring it?

Frequently asked questions
How big can the room be for the Sub E-12 F?
The E-12 F fits well into small to medium-sized living spaces. In very large rooms or ambitious home cinemas, a single 12-inch driver eventually reaches its limit – then the larger Sub K-14 F is worthwhile. We're happy to work out with you which size suits your room.
Does the Sub E-12 F fit my AV receiver?
Yes. Via the LFE input, you connect it directly to your receiver's subwoofer output, and via the line inputs, also to a stereo amplifier without a dedicated sub output. You then adjust volume, phase and crossover frequency on the back to match your main speakers.
Where's the best place to put the subwoofer?
A corner or a spot near the wall gives the most level. Thanks to the downfiring port and the 30 mm aluminium base, the E-12 F is more flexible in placement than many competitors. The ideal spot is found fastest by trial and error – we'll give you the right tips.
Does the Sub E-12 F have a high-level input?
No. The E-12 F connects exclusively via RCA, either through the LFE mono input or the low-pass-filtered line inputs. There are no speaker terminals for a high-level connection. For amplifiers without a sub output, the line input is the right route – we'll show you the correct wiring.
Why buy the DALI Sub E-12 F from HD Zürisee?
Because a subwoofer only sounds good when it's cleanly integrated into the system – level, phase and crossover frequency need to match your speakers and your room. That's exactly what we advise on at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, drawing on years of practice, and we deliver and install on site if you like. Call: 044 680 22 00.
