The DALI Opticon Vokal MK2 is a center speaker for home cinema systems that firmly anchors voices and dialogue to the screen – here in the White Satin Matte finish.
It belongs to the Danish Opticon MK2 series and shares its hybrid tweeter and the wood fibre driver with SMC magnet system with every other model in the range. White Satin Matte is the finish for bright rooms: against a white wall or on a light-coloured sideboard, the Vokal MK2 barely stands out despite being a good 43 centimetres wide. One detail that surprises many people: DALI includes a light grey front grille with the white cabinet from the factory, not a white one. If you want it uniformly white, order the white grille separately.
Why the Opticon Vokal MK2?
Because speech intelligibility is the discipline a home cinema stands or falls on. The hybrid tweeter combines a 29 mm fabric dome with a 17 × 45 mm ribbon and radiates more broadly than a plain dome – the sound stays the same across the full width of the sofa. The 165 mm wood fibre driver adds body and warmth, so voices sound like people, not telephone handsets.
What you hear
Calm, clearly outlined dialogue, even when half an orchestra is working away in the background. The frequency range from 47 to 30,000 Hz covers the vocal range completely and renders consonants precisely without sharpening them. Because the center shares its tuning with the rest of the Opticon MK2 series, front and center merge into one stage rather than three separate voices. Something we notice again and again at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil: with a good center, the system doesn't get louder, it gets more intelligible.
Who is the Opticon Vokal MK2 suited to?
Plain talk: it's no good for narrow shelf compartments – 20.1 cm height, 43.5 cm width and 9.2 kg want a stable, sufficiently deep surface. If you already have Opticon MK2 speakers up front, this is the ideal match. If you just want to upgrade the small TV in the bedroom, though, a more compact solution makes more sense.
Our verdict
A center without theatrics, but with what counts: wide dispersion, clean midrange, easy placement thanks to front-firing bass reflex ports. White Satin Matte is the finish that demands the least attention in a bright living room – and for a center, that's a compliment. Factor in the light grey grille if you're after a uniformly white look. Tell us what your room looks like and which speakers you already have, and we'll plan the rest with you.

Frequently asked questions
What colour is the front grille on the white Vokal MK2?
Light grey, not white. DALI ships the White Satin Matte finish from the factory with a mottled grey covering; the white variant is optional accessory and ordered separately. Colour has no effect on sound, it's purely visual – we're happy to include the matching one for you right away.
How high should the Vokal MK2 stand?
As close as possible to seated ear height, ideally directly under the TV. Because both bass reflex ports fire forward, it can also go into a furniture niche. If it sits noticeably lower, a slight upward tilt helps; the included rubber feet decouple it from the surface as well.
Does the Vokal MK2 suit bookshelf speakers up front?
Yes, very well in fact. With Opticon 1 or 2 MK2 up front, you get a homogeneous 5.1 system, because all the models use the same hybrid tweeter. Just make sure not to level the center louder than the front speakers – your AV receiver's auto-calibration usually handles this for you.
How much amplifier power makes sense?
DALI specifies 30 to 150 watts. With 88 dB sensitivity and 4 ohm nominal impedance, the center already plays loud enough effortlessly on a mid-sized AV receiver; reserves never hurt though. What matters most is that the receiver runs stably at 4 ohms.
Is White Satin Matte also suitable for wall mounting?
The Vokal MK2 is designed as a stand-alone solution under the TV and comes with rubber feet, not a wall bracket. For the wall, the Opticon LCR MK2 from the same series is the better fit. We're happy to clarify beforehand which variant makes more sense in your room.
