The DALI Opticon LCR MK2 in Black Ash is a flat on-wall speaker that works as a left, right or centre channel.
128 millimetres of depth – it won't take up much more space than that. Yet it still packs the complete Opticon technology: a 165 mm woofer/midrange with a wood fibre cone and SMC magnet system, plus a hybrid tweeter module made up of a 29 mm fabric dome and a 17 × 45 mm ribbon. The module can be rotated, so the dispersion is correct whichever way the speaker is mounted – upright as L/R, or sideways as the centre channel.
Why the Opticon LCR MK2?
Because it delivers genuine hi-fi sound while almost disappearing on the wall – especially thoroughly in Black Ash against a dark TV wall. The cabinet, with its 25 mm thick baffle and additional internal bracing, is significantly stiffer than its slim silhouette suggests. The bass reflex port channels airflow along the wall rather than against it. Three identical LCRs side by side create a front that sounds the same from left to right – you'll notice it immediately in film dialogue.
What you hear
Voices that stand out front instead of sticking to the wall. The treble reveals detail without hissing: the fabric dome works up to 14 kHz, above which the ribbon takes over. Down low it reaches 70 Hz, dry and clean rather than thickened – remarkably substantial for 128 millimetres of depth. If you also want to feel the impact in your home cinema, add a subwoofer. That's what the LCR is designed to work with, not against.
Who is the Opticon LCR MK2 for?
Bottom line: for anyone who wants good sound without towers in the living room. As a stereo pair on the wall, as a centre channel under the TV, or as a complete LCR front – it's always the same speaker. It's not the right choice if you expect deep bass below 70 Hz without a subwoofer, or want to place it freely on a shelf: it relies on the wall behind it. And screws or wall plugs aren't included – the wall has a say too.
Our verdict
The best on-wall speaker is the one you stop noticing after two weeks yet still hear. That's exactly the Opticon LCR MK2: a fully grown hi-fi speaker disguised as a piece of furniture. The trade press agrees – “With the new Opticon LCR MK2, Dali impressively shows that on-walls are a genuine alternative to soundbars and conventional speakers.” (lite-magazin.de, February 2022, top marks). At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we think it's the most honest answer to the question “soundbar or real speakers?”.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need three different models for left, right and centre?
No, you use the same Opticon LCR MK2 three times over. For the sideways-mounted centre channel, you rotate the hybrid tweeter module by 90 degrees so the dispersion is correct again. That way the whole front sounds identical – the biggest advantage of a genuine LCR solution. You don't need a separate centre model.
How deep does the Opticon LCR MK2 play on the wall?
Down to 70 Hz (±3 dB) – a very good figure for a 128 millimetre flat speaker. The port fires along the wall rather than against it, which keeps the bass clean. For home cinema with real depth you'd still plan for a subwoofer, but for music in the living room it's usually more than enough.
Is the Opticon LCR MK2 sold individually?
Yes, the price is per unit. That way you can put together exactly the configuration your room needs: two as a stereo pair, three as a complete LCR front, five for surround. We're happy to work out the right number with you.
Is wall-mounting hardware included?
No. The box contains the instruction manual, rubber feet and the fabric front cover – you choose screws and wall plugs to match your wall. Concrete, plasterboard and stud walls each call for different fixings, and 8 kilograms needs to hang securely. Our technician Mauri can handle the installation on-site if you'd like.
Why buy the DALI Opticon LCR MK2 from HD Zürisee?
Because with an on-wall speaker, the installation decides the result. We're an authorised dealer in Wädenswil, we advise you on height, spacing and orientation, and we install on-site if you'd like – with Mauri, our own technician.
