DALI Opticon 6 MK2 Floorstanding Speakers, White (Pair)

The DALI Opticon 6 MK2 in Satin White is a slim floorstanding speaker made in Denmark that combines two 6½-inch wood fibre drivers with a hybrid tweeter made of a 29 mm dome and a 17×45 mm ribbon.

In Satin White, it's the most understated of the three finishes – against a light wall, the barely 20 cm wide front nearly disappears. Everything else stays the same: die-cast aluminium front plate, 25 millimetre thick baffle, braced cabinet, SMC magnet material.

Why the Opticon 6 MK2?

Because it's the kind of speaker you forget about after buying it – in the best sense. No effect bass, no artificial treble, just two wood fibre cones that simply reproduce what arrives. The widely dispersing hybrid tweeter means this works even with several listeners.

What you'll hear

A cleanly defined bass that starts at 49 Hz without smothering the room, clearly outlined vocals, and treble with air rather than sharpness. Which amplifier power between 25 and 200 watts makes sense for your room is something we'll work out with you at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil.

Who is the Opticon 6 MK2 suited to?

Plain and simple: if you like feeling the sofa vibrate with bass, you're after the wrong thing – this DALI works dry rather than spectacular. It's also too much speaker for a very small room around 10 m². From about 18 m² with 20 to 30 cm of wall clearance, it fits. One note on looks: white shows dust more readily than black.

Our verdict

If you furnish in light colours but still don't want to go without a full-size floorstander, the Opticon 6 MK2 in Satin White is the obvious answer. It stays composed even when loud and delivers what DALI does well: unfussy honesty.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white surface yellow over time?

DALI makes no statement about long-term discolouration, so we won't claim anything either. What matters more in daily life: the satin matte white surface shows dust more clearly than the black finish. A dry microfibre cloth is enough for cleaning; you should avoid aggressive cleaners and solvents.

Can I use the Opticon 6 MK2 for home cinema?

Yes, it works well as a front pair. With 88 decibels of sensitivity at 4 ohms, it's easy-going enough for a mid-range AV receiver. For films with very deep effects, adding a subwoofer makes sense, since the speaker naturally rolls off below 49 hertz.

Is bi-wiring worth it on the Opticon 6 MK2?

The double terminal allows bi-wiring and bi-amping. Whether separate cables for bass and treble bring an audible benefit in your setup, or a good-quality bridge is enough, depends on your amplifier and cables. We'll go through the question with you at HD Zürisee instead of just selling you two sets of cable.
