The Canton Vento 31 is a 2-way compact speaker from the Vento series 2026 that, with its 174 mm mid-woofer and the tweeter from Canton's larger models, delivers more foundation than its size suggests.
In high-gloss black it looks more like a small piece of furniture than a loudspeaker: a narrow baffle, a curved cabinet, a magnetically attached fabric cover. Behind the square Transmission Front Plate sits a 25 mm dome made of Black Ceramic, and below it works a 174 mm cone made of Aluminium Titanium Black. The bass-reflex port faces to the rear. Built in Weilrod, delivered as a pair.
Why the Canton Vento 31?
Because a well-made compact is often the smarter choice than a mediocre floorstander. The 31 takes up almost no floor space, can be placed freely in the room on a stand, and still brings along the tweeter technology of the series' larger models. Compared with the smaller Vento 21, it has the larger driver, and you can hear it in the bass extension, dynamics, and headroom. As a stereo pair in the living room it cuts just as fine a figure as it does as surround speakers in a home cinema of the same series.
What you hear
A precise, tidy image with surprisingly full body in the lower midrange. The tweeter resolves finely without turning harsh, and voices stand palpably between the speakers. The rear port needs a bit of wall clearance: given that, the 31 plays open and fast rather than thick. Even at higher levels it stays composed, which you wouldn't automatically expect from a 40-centimetre-tall box.
Who is the Canton Vento 31 for?
Plain talk: for small to medium-sized rooms and for anyone who wants good sound without putting two floorstanders in the room. If you want to fill a large, open living space or produce home-cinema bass without a subwoofer, you're better served by a floorstander or an additional subwoofer. And if you go for high-gloss black, know this: the finish is gorgeous and remembers every fingerprint you give it.
Our verdict
The Vento 31 is the compact with the bigger driver: more substance than the 21, the same tweeter technology as the series' floorstanders. On a solid stand and a bit away from the rear wall, it plays noticeably more grown-up than its size suggests. Our experienced team at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil will tell you whether the 31, the smaller 21, or a floorstander is the right answer for your room, and which amplifier goes with it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Canton Vento 31 sold as a pair?
Yes, this listing covers two speakers, a complete stereo pair. For a home-cinema set from the Vento series, a second pair can later be added as surround speakers, plus matching center and subwoofer models. Both speakers come with magnetic fabric covers and the instruction manual.
Do I need a stand for the Vento 31?
Not strictly, but it's a good idea. On a solid stand the tweeter sits at ear height, and the speaker gets clearance from the rear wall — exactly what the rearward-facing bass-reflex port needs. Crammed into a full bookshelf, it loses precision in the bass. We also carry matching speaker stands.
What's the difference between the Vento 31 and the Vento 21?
The mid-woofer: 174 mm on the 31 versus 154 mm on the 21. That gives a deeper frequency response starting at 27 instead of 32 Hz, more power handling, and more headroom. The 31's cabinet is correspondingly larger. The 25 mm tweeter is identical on both models.
Does the Vento 31 work without a subwoofer?
For stereo in small to medium-sized rooms, generally yes — 27 Hz frequency response is impressive for a compact speaker. For home cinema with deep effects or for large, open rooms, we recommend a subwoofer. It can be added at any time without changing anything else in your setup.
Why buy the Canton Vento 31 at HD Zürisee?

Goes well with
A stable speaker stand gets noticeably more out of the Vento 31. Add a matching amplifier, decent speaker cable, and, if you want it deeper, a subwoofer. The whole brand can be found in the CANTON overview.
