Canton Vento 101 Floorstanding Speaker, Walnut (Pair)

The Canton Vento 101 is the large 3-way floorstanding speaker of the Vento series 2026, here in walnut veneer.

The curved multi-layer MDF cabinet is hand-built in Weilrod in the Taunus region and finished with real wood veneer – the option for anyone who finds gloss lacquer too technical-looking. Inside work two 192 mm woofers, a dedicated 174 mm midrange driver, and the new BC tweeter with Transmission Front Plate. Supplied as a pair.

Why the Canton Vento 101?

Because it manages the trick of being big and homely at the same time. The Aluminium-Titanium-Black woofers deliver a foundation down to 20 Hz, the dedicated midrange driver keeps voices free of them, and the tweeter with square waveguide radiates in a controlled way up to 40,000 Hz – staying even even when you're not sitting exactly in the middle of the sofa. Which, as it happens, is the most common seat in real life.

What you experience

Music that stands in the room instead of in the speakers. The downfire port works downward via the plinth construction, making the bass less dependent on the rear wall. The tweeter's black ceramic dome sounds refined without turning harsh – even after two hours. And since the crossover to the midrange only happens at 3,000 Hz, the range crucial for voices stays all of one piece.

Who is the Canton Vento 101 for?

Plainly put: the Vento 101 wants a room that gives it space – realistically from 20 m² upward. As a small side speaker for background music or in a small study, it's simply the wrong choice; the more compact models in the series, like the Vento 81 or 31, exist for that. How do I care for the walnut finish?

A dry, soft cloth is enough for everyday use. You should avoid permanent direct sunlight, as real wood can darken over time. Aggressive cleaners, silicone-based polishes, or solvents have no place on the veneer – that way the warm look stays for years.

Does walnut sound different from the lacquered variants?

No. Cabinet construction, drivers, and crossover are identical across all finishes of the Vento 101; the choice is purely a matter of taste and décor. Walnut brings warmth to modern and classic rooms alike and shows fingerprints noticeably less than gloss black.
