The Canton Smart Sub 12 is an active wireless subwoofer with a 308 mm down-firing woofer in a sealed enclosure, which automatically joins your Canton Smart system via its own 5.8 GHz radio link.
Silky matte black, with a polished, tempered glass top plate, and underneath 22.8 kilos of bass foundation. 220 watts of music power reach down to 24 Hz – and all without a signal cable running across the living room. Delivered as a single unit.
Why the Canton Smart Sub 12?
Canton takes the more demanding but cleaner route here: sealed enclosure instead of bass reflex. That costs a few decibels of efficiency, but delivers a dry, impulse-accurate bass in return that doesn't ring on and doesn't swell up in the room. The 308 mm woofer made of cellulose and graphite fires downward, and SC technology keeps it within its limits even at high levels. The radio link runs on 5.8 GHz – exactly where your Wi-Fi, your headphones and the microwave don't want a say too. Up to ten meters of distance to the Smart device are supported. Any Canton Smart device with wireless sub connectivity works as the counterpart: Smart Soundbars, Smart Sounddecks, the Smart Soundbox as well as Smart floorstanding and compact speakers.

Who is the Canton Smart Sub 12 suitable for?
Plain talk: The Smart Sub 12 belongs in large living spaces and home cinemas, where depth and punch are called for and the room can absorb the energy too. If your room measures 20 square meters, this sub is more likely to overwhelm the space than delight it – then the smaller Smart Sub 8 is the smarter choice. And at 22.8 kilos and 45 centimeters tall, it isn't a piece of furniture you move twice a week. Anyone who carefully hunts down the position is rewarded with bass that stays clean instead of booming.
Our verdict
The Smart Sub 12 is the bass foundation for the Canton Smart system when it's allowed to be big and uncompromising: sealed enclosure, ample cone area, 24 Hz depth, no signal cable. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we see time and again how much half a meter of relocation can change – especially with a sub of this class. That's exactly why Mauri comes to see you in person.

Frequently asked questions
How does the Canton Smart Sub 12 connect?
Wirelessly via its own 5.8 GHz radio link, which automatically pairs with your Canton Smart device – soundbar, sounddeck, soundbox or Smart speaker. Up to ten meters of distance are supported. Alternatively, plug it in the classic way via RCA into the SUB IN input; a switch on the device selects between wireless and wired operation.
How deep does the Canton Smart Sub 12 play?
Canton states the frequency response as 24 to 150 Hz. You feel the lowest octaves in your gut more than you hear them in your ear. That's thanks to the 308 mm down-firing woofer and the sealed enclosure, which keeps the bass dry and impulse-accurate instead of letting it swell.
Smart Sub 12 or Smart Sub 8?
The Sub 12 has the bigger driver, 220 instead of 200 watts of music power, and reaches significantly deeper at 24 Hz – built for large living spaces and home cinema with punch. The Sub 8 starts at 30 Hz, is more compact and, at 8.5 kilos, noticeably lighter. It's enough for small to medium rooms.
Does the Smart Sub 12 absolutely require a Canton Smart device?
No. It plays most elegantly wirelessly within the Canton Smart ecosystem, but the RCA input lets you hook it up to any amplifier or AV receiver with a subwoofer output. You then set the crossover frequency on the source device itself – the subwoofer has no control for that.
Why buy the Canton Smart Sub 12 from HD Zürisee?
Because a subwoofer this size stands or falls with its placement. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we clarify with you beforehand where it belongs in the room, how it fits into your existing Canton system and how much level your living room can handle. Mauri, our technician, delivers, positions and fine-tunes it.
