The Canton Smart Soundbar 10 S2 is an active Dolby Atmos soundbar that creates its height channels via two upward-firing drivers and the ceiling.

In silky matte white, it almost disappears under bright wall-mounted TVs, while acoustically it stands out all the more: 300 watts of system power across 99 centimeters of width, network included. Delivered as a single unit.

Why the Canton Smart Soundbar 10 S2?

Because height isn't simulated here, it's actually played. All four 79 mm aluminum woofers of the 3-way bass reflex system fire at an angle upward, two of them additionally handle the Atmos height channels and bounce the effects back to the sofa via the ceiling. They're joined by two 19 mm fabric tweeters, two 50 mm aluminum midrange drivers and a front-firing passive radiator for the bass. Four Class D channels with a combined 300 watts supply the energy. Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS Digital Surround are decoded. Three HDMI inputs accept players, the HDMI output with eARC also pulls high-bitrate soundtracks back out of the TV.

What you hear

The first win is speech intelligibility: dialogue sits centered and clear instead of disappearing behind the panel. The second is the width, which clearly extends beyond the housing. The third comes from above, once an Atmos soundtrack plays and the ceiling plays along. The bar takes music seriously and stays full even at low volume. And yes, the height plane lives from reflections rather than a ceiling install – honestly a compromise, but a surprisingly convincing one.

Who is the Canton Smart Soundbar 10 S2 suitable for?

Honestly: The white 10 S2 belongs in bright living rooms with a large TV standing or mounted, where nobody wants to install speakers in the ceiling. It makes less sense under a high sloped or wood ceiling, because without a usable reflection surface the height channels lose exactly the argument you're paying for. Then you're better off, honestly, with the 9 S2. And anyone who likes to feel deep bass physically should plan for a subwoofer right away.

Our verdict

One of the few slim bars that doesn't just claim height but delivers it with dedicated drivers. In white, it's also the rare device you can place without asking the décor's permission. Does the Soundbar 10 S2 play Dolby Atmos without additional ceiling speakers?

Yes. Four upward-angled woofers sit in the housing, two of which reproduce the Atmos height channels via ceiling reflection. The ceiling is what matters: a flat, smooth surface reflects cleanly, an open slope or wood beams hardly at all. You enter placement height and ceiling distance afterwards in the Canton Smart app.

Does a white soundbar also suit a black TV?

Yes, and it actually stands out less when placed against a light wall or on a light sideboard. The silky matte surface barely reflects, so it doesn't disturb the picture with reflections during dark movie scenes. Visually it stays a plinth, not a second device in the room.

Is there a headphone or line output on the 10 S2?

No, both are missing. Neither a headphone jack nor an adjustable line output is present. The only output is the mono subwoofer RCA at a maximum of 2 volts, whose level follows the volume; it's intended for an active subwoofer. Run headphones through the TV.

Do I need an additional subwoofer?

Not to start with. Four aluminum woofers and the front-firing passive radiator reach down to 40 Hz, which carries series and most films. Anyone who wants to physically feel action scenes couples a Canton Smart Sub wirelessly or uses the subwoofer output for an active model.
