The Canton CD 250.3 is a flat 2½-way center speaker made of aluminum that takes over dialogue in home cinema and finds room under or above the TV.
So there's no confusion from the start: the CD in the model name stands for Custom Design, Canton's flat wall and shelf series – not Compact Disc. The speaker doesn't play anything back, it gets connected. The high-gloss white finish is the choice for bright living spaces: mounted on a white wall, the center almost disappears. 43 cm wide, 10 cm deep, wall mount and stand are included.
Why the Canton CD 250.3?
Behind the front, a 110 mm aluminum woofer, a 110 mm aluminum midrange driver and a 25 mm aluminum tweeter dome work together. The crossover sits at 400 and 3,500 Hz: the woofer only supports the lower range, while a single driver handles the crucial voice range. That's why dialogue stays clean and present, even when things get loud on screen.
In a film, the lion's share of the sound runs through the center. It decides whether you follow the plot or go looking for the remote – a channel where cutting corners rarely pays off.

Who is the Canton CD 250.3 suitable for?
Plain talk: For bright living rooms where a black box under the TV would stand out – and for anyone who values intelligible dialogue more than an effects storm. It plays best alongside the other speakers in the CD series. Anyone who listens purely in stereo, on the other hand, needs no center at all: then you invest the budget better in the front speakers. The CD 250.3 only shows its strength in a multi-channel setup.
Our verdict
An unassuming, well-built center that blends in visually in bright rooms and acoustically does what it should: put voices clearly in the middle. A note from Wädenswil: Canton now keeps the CD series in its archive – whatever's still at HD Zürisee goes out while supplies last. We're happy to advise you on the right front and rear speakers.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Canton CD 250.3 a CD player or a speaker?
A speaker. At Canton, CD is short for Custom Design, the manufacturer's flat wall series, and has nothing to do with the Compact Disc. The CD 250.3 is the passive center for home cinema: it connects to the AV receiver, needs no power, and has no disc transport.
Why does a center speaker pay off at all?
Because it carries the dialogue in a film and keeps voices anchored in the middle of the picture. The center is the most demanded channel in home cinema. Cut corners here and speech intelligibility suffers first – and that's exactly what decides relaxed viewing.
How big is the Canton CD 250.3?
It measures 43 cm wide, 14 cm high and 10 cm deep, and weighs 3.5 kg. That lets it fit under most TVs. Since stand and wall mount are included, you can either place it or hang it above the screen.
Does the center have to be from Canton if my front speakers are?
Not necessarily, but it audibly helps. Within the CD series, tonal character and tuning match exactly, so voices move cleanly between channels. In mixed setups, we work with you to make sure the characters suit each other – which saves a lot of readjusting later.
Is the Canton CD 250.3 delivered as a single unit?
Yes. A center is always needed singly, so we sell it individually. The box contains the speaker, the wall mount, the stand and the instruction manual. All you need in addition is a suitable speaker cable to the AV receiver or power amp. Several units are only needed in very large multi-channel systems.
Why buy the Canton CD 250.3 from HD Zürisee?
Because with a center, the setup is almost as important as the speaker itself. We work with you on placement, height and level, combine matching front and rear speakers, and set up your home cinema on-site on request. After that, we stay available for service.
Goes well with
Round out the set with additional home cinema speakers, a subwoofer for the foundation, an amplifier or AV receiver as the hub, and matching speaker cables. All models of the brand: Canton.
