The Canton Smart Libero Set 2 is a wireless stereo and streaming set made up of the Smart Connect 5.1 S2 as the hub and two active Smart Libero speakers, connected by radio.
The hub is just 24.5 centimetres wide and disappears under any TV. It takes up to three HDMI sources, feeds audio back to the TV via eARC, and sends sound wirelessly to the two speakers. There's no signal cable between hub and speakers – each device only needs a power outlet. In black, the set blends in discreetly under dark TVs and on dark sideboards.
Why the Smart Libero Set 2?
Because nothing here is thrown together. Canton supplies hub, speakers and remote as a matched package, and the question of the right amplifier never even comes up – power amps and crossover are built into the speakers. Cable gauges, impedances, skirting boards: all things you can skip here. And because the Smart Connect 5.1 S2 manages up to eight wireless Smart speakers, the system grows with you instead of being replaced later.
What you get
A tidy stereo system for music and TV sound. Each Smart Libero works two-way and sealed, with a 25 mm fabric tweeter, a 78 mm woofer/midrange and 70 watts of system power – compact enough for a shelf, wall-mountable if you want it even tidier. The hub switches sources, streams via AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in and Spotify Connect, and already decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD Master Audio. You add the matching speaker set for that whenever you like.
Who is the Set 2 for?
Straight talk: this is a 2.0 system. No subwoofer, no rears, no height channels – if you want surround sound with a foundation from the start, you're better off with the Set 4 plus a Smart Sub. Second honest point: the Smart Libero only work within the Canton Smart ecosystem. On a third-party amplifier they stay silent, and they're no good as secondary speakers either. Tell us about your room, and we'll tell you whether Set 2 is enough.
Our verdict
The cleanest way into Canton's wireless world: a flat hub, two small speakers, no cable clutter – and expandable to home cinema at any time. Honestly, there's hardly a way to get much better sound than your TV speaker for so much less effort.

Frequently asked questions
What's included in the Canton Smart Libero Set 2?
A Smart Connect 5.1 S2 as the hub, two active Smart Libero speakers and the Canton Smart Remote Control. The two Libero play front left and right, while the hub handles source selection, streaming and volume. A subwoofer and surround speakers aren't included, but can be added wirelessly.
Do I need an additional amplifier or AV receiver?
No. The Smart Connect 5.1 S2 is preamplifier, decoder and streaming hub in one, and the Smart Libero have their own power amps on board. The TV and up to three further sources connect to the hub via HDMI, and each speaker just needs a power outlet within reach.
Do the Smart Libero also work with third-party equipment?
No. The Smart Libero are purely wireless speakers within the Canton Smart system and need a master device such as the included Smart Connect 5.1 S2, a Canton Smart soundbar or a Smart Sounddeck. On any regular integrated amplifier or directly on a TV, they produce no sound at all.
Can I expand Set 2 to surround later?
Yes. Two more Smart Libero give you the Set 4 configuration, and a Canton Smart Sub adds deep bass. The hub manages up to eight wireless Smart speakers, so you can expand in stages over the years without having to replace anything.
Do I need a paid streaming subscription?
No. Streaming services are an option, not a requirement. TV sound runs via HDMI, plus there's AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth. Music from your phone, your home network or internet radio works without any ongoing cost.
