The Canton Puro 90 is a passive 2½-way floorstanding speaker in column form that dispenses completely with visible technology.
In white silk matt, the speaker becomes almost a piece of furniture: 105 centimetres tall, 14 wide, 10 deep – in front of a bright wall, the column all but disappears. Inside sit five aluminium drivers, at the bottom a forward-facing bass reflex port, and beneath it a foot of die-cast aluminium. The technology only announces itself once the music is playing.
Why the Puro 90?
Because nobody here traded sound for looks. The 2½-way system consists of a 25 mm aluminium tweeter, two 106 mm midrange drivers and two 106 mm woofers – a seriously meant line-up that Canton hides behind a smooth front. Let's be honest: how many speakers among your friends are allowed to stand in the living room simply because they look good?
What you hear
Clear, unhurried mids, fine treble without harshness, and a foundation that reaches down to 40 Hz. The Puro 90 plays bigger than its silhouette suggests, and stays composed even at higher levels. At 87.5 dB sensitivity and 4–8 ohms, it's a grateful load for any reasonable stereo amplifier.
Who is the Puro 90 suited to?
For bright, open living spaces where a black box would look out of place. Honestly: in a very large room with home cinema ambitions, a 14 centimetre slim column reaches its limits – there, a subwoofer belongs, or a bigger design altogether. In normal living rooms between 15 and 35 square metres, the Puro 90 is exactly right.
Our verdict
White silk matt is the friendliest of the five finishes: it takes any heaviness away from the speaker without making it look cheap. Sonically a mature floorstanding speaker, visually a calm line – this combination is rarer than you'd think.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Puro 90 have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?
No. The Puro 90 is a purely passive speaker with no power amp, no network and no Bluetooth. Streaming comes via the electronics in front of it – for example a streaming amplifier or a separate network player at an integrated amplifier.
How close to the wall can the Puro 90 stand?
Because the bass reflex port radiates forward, the Puro 90 is less critical near a wall than models with a rear-facing port. A few centimetres of air still help the bass, though. How much your room can tolerate depends on furnishing and flooring – just ask us.
Does white also fit into a home cinema?
Yes. As a front pair, the Puro 90 can be complemented with the compact Puro 30 from the same series to form a multi-channel setup that stays visually of a piece. For film levels in large rooms, we also recommend a subwoofer.
How heavy is a Puro 90 column?
A single column weighs 9.3 kilograms. That's light enough to set up on your own, and thanks to the die-cast aluminium foot, still stands firm. For delivery and setup, our technician can support you directly on site if you like.
