The Canton InWall 845 is a compact passive two-way in-wall speaker for wall and ceiling installation with a 13.5 cm aluminium woofer and a pivoting 25 mm aluminium tweeter.

It's the entry point into the InWall series and has the smallest cutout: 152 × 233 mm, 68 mm deep. That means it fits where larger models fail because of the stud spacing – and after the magnetic grille has been painted over, it practically disappears into the wall.

Why the InWall 845?

Because not every zone needs a main system, but every zone deserves good sound. The 845 brings the same Free Air construction and the same pivoting aluminium tweeter as its bigger siblings, just in a smaller size. That makes it a sensible building block when you want to fill several rooms with invisible sound, without the wall cutouts turning into a construction project.

What you hear

A clean, balanced sound with good speech intelligibility – present enough for music while cooking, working or eating, discreet enough not to intrude. The frequency response spans 50 Hz to 40 kHz, and the pivoting tweeter makes sure the treble reaches you even from a corner installation.

Who is the InWall 845 suited to?

For hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and multiroom zones – anywhere the technology should stay invisible. Straight talk: with 86.5 dB sensitivity and 100 watts of music power handling, it's no candidate for large, open-plan living spaces. Anyone wanting to fill a living room as a main system should reach for the 865 or 989 instead. Honestly – for a secondary zone, anything bigger would just be expensive overkill.

Our verdict

The honest entry point into invisible sound: small in cutout, cleanly built, without any airs. Honestly: the 845 won't win a sound contest against a floorstander – nor does it want to. It reliably solves the task of "music in the room, without anyone seeing it." At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we tell you upfront whether your wall construction will play along.

Frequently asked questions

How big does the cutout for the InWall 845 need to be?

The cutout measures 152 × 233 mm at 68 mm installation depth and a maximum wall thickness of 40 mm, with visible outer dimensions of 190 × 270 mm. This means the 845 also fits between narrow stud spacing. Still, check for wiring and pipes beforehand – or have Mauri, our technician, measure the location in advance.

Does the InWall 845 also work in a solid wall?

Yes. In stud framing it sits directly in the cavity; in brick or concrete a niche is needed. Canton offers the optional ER 4 mounting frame for this, which considerably simplifies installation in solid walls. We'll work out beforehand which variant makes sense for you.

Does the InWall 845 need a back box?

Not strictly necessary – the 845 works on the Free Air principle and uses the cavity as its volume. A back box becomes worthwhile when sound shouldn't travel into the neighbouring room or the stairwell. In rental flats and multi-family houses, that's often the deciding detail.

Which rooms is the InWall 845 suited to?

For normal-sized living spaces, hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, or as a discreet stereo zone in a multiroom setup. It's not designed for bathrooms or wellness areas, which need moisture-resistant models instead. If it's meant to carry a large living room as the main system, the 865 or 989 are the better-suited candidates.

Why buy the Canton InWall 845 at HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you honestly which InWall model fits your room, instead of automatically recommending the biggest one. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil plans the installation spot, cabling and amplifier with you, and Mauri handles the installation on site. Drop us a line, we'll get back to you.

Goes well with

You'll find the drive electronics for one or several zones among the amplifiers, the connection among the speaker cables, and mounting aids in the accessories. Larger invisible models can be found among the in-wall speakers and wall speakers, and the brand's whole range in the Canton overview.
