The Canton InCeiling P6 Outdoor is a splash-protected ceiling speaker from the premium P Series, which Canton has explicitly developed for covered outdoor areas, conservatories and moisture rooms.

Sonically it plays at the level of the InCeiling P6, but it's built differently: the tweeter and woofer use ceramic cones instead of aluminium-titanium, and in front of them sits a powder-coated stainless-steel grille. Exactly what a normal ceiling speaker above a shower no longer is after one winter.

Why the InCeiling P6 Outdoor?

Because moisture isn't an event, it's a constant state. Under a terrace roof, in a conservatory, above a bathtub or in a wellness area, condensation, steam and splashes happen continuously – that's where standard chassis and ordinary grilles eventually give up. The P6 Outdoor brings exactly the sound level of the P Series into these zones, including a 165 mm chassis and 120 watts of music power handling, instead of the usual compromise sound.

What you hear

Full-fledged Canton sound instead of thin outdoor coverage: 87.5 dB sensitivity, frequency range from 45 Hz, a clean crossover at 3,000 Hz. Outdoors, the back walls that reflect bass indoors are missing – that's why the P6 Outdoor is happiest in the covered zone, where the ceiling and walls still help out a little.

Who is the InCeiling P6 Outdoor suited for?

For covered terraces, balconies with a ceiling structure, conservatories, wellness areas, pool rooms and bathrooms. Straight talk: splash-protected means splash-protected, not waterproof – Canton doesn't state an IP rating for it. You don't want to expose it to standing in open rain, snow load, or direct weathering. For an open garden terrace with no roof, a hangable outdoor speaker is the better choice.

Our verdict

The most elegant solution for music where it gets damp: no box on the wall, no cables in sight, just a white circle in the ceiling. As long as the placement is chosen with proper cover, the P6 Outdoor is a speaker you simply forget about for years – and in moisture-room technology, that's the biggest compliment there is. We at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil look at the situation beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

What protection rating does the InCeiling P6 Outdoor have?

Canton doesn't state an IP rating. The manufacturer describes it as splash-protected and explicitly names covered outdoor areas, conservatories and moisture rooms as its intended use. Add to that a ceramic chassis and a powder-coated stainless-steel grille. Mounting fully exposed to weather with no roof isn't covered by this.

Can it go in the bathroom, shower, or wellness area?

Yes, Canton explicitly names moisture rooms as an intended use. In wet areas, though, the electrical safety zones of the relevant standard also apply, and the ceiling construction has to tolerate the moisture. Mauri, our technician, checks exactly these details during the on-site installation.

What cutout does it need, and is a back chamber required?

The cutout measures 204 mm, the installation depth 85 mm. Note: the regular P6 needs 206 mm – so the two models aren't a drop-in match for each other. A back chamber isn't mandatory but is often worthwhile in moisture areas. Canton offers the CFB 650 back enclosure for this.

How does it differ from the regular InCeiling P6?

In the materials. The Outdoor uses ceramic chassis for the tweeter and woofer and carries a powder-coated stainless-steel grille, while the regular P6 uses aluminium-titanium cones. Power handling, frequency range and sensitivity are identical; the cutout is two millimetres smaller.

Why buy the Canton InCeiling P6 Outdoor from HD Zürisee?

Because with moisture-room and outdoor sound, placement decides the lifespan, not the datasheet. We look at the roof overhang, splash zones and ceiling structure before anything gets drilled, and take on the installation ourselves on request. Get in touch by phone, WhatsApp or email.

Goes well with

For the power you need, check the amplifiers or go straight to the power amplifiers – outdoor zones rarely hang off the main amplifier. The connection comes from the speaker cables, more models are in the Canton overview.
