The Canton Atelier InWall 9 is a slim 3-way in-wall speaker that fits stereo and surround sound flush into the wall.

It's the more compact variant of the Atelier InWall 11: a narrower cutout, the same 8.2 cm installation depth, the same idea. In silk-matte white with a frameless fabric cover, visually there's almost nothing left of it – acoustically there's surprisingly much.

Why the Atelier InWall 9?

Because a 128 mm aluminium-titanium woofer/midrange driver, together with two passive radiators, reaches all the way down to 35 Hz. That's remarkable for a panel just 24.5 cm wide, and makes it a full-fledged main speaker in normal-sized living rooms, not a stopgap.

What you hear

A tidy, airy sound with surprisingly much substance in the foundation. Voices sit clearly in the centre, instruments keep their size, and because it sits in the wall at ear height, you hear the room the recording brings with it, not a box.

Who is the Atelier InWall 9 suited for?

For living rooms, offices and multi-room systems where no speaker should be visible. Straight talk: if you want to fill a big room at home-cinema level, go straight for the Atelier InWall 11 or plan in a subwoofer. The InWall 9 is the balanced one, not the muscle-bound one.

Our verdict

The all-rounder of the Atelier InWall range: enough low-end for serious music, narrow enough for almost any wall. If you want hi-fi and your interior designer doesn't, this is the solution that lets both sleep well.

Frequently asked questions

What wall cutout does the Atelier InWall 9 need?

The cutout measures 20.5 × 91 cm at 8.2 cm installation depth; with the cover the speaker comes to 24.5 × 95 × 8.5 cm. The width usually fits between two studs in drywall. We check your wall structure beforehand using photos or plans.

What's the difference to the Atelier InWall 11?

The InWall 9 is narrower, lighter and reaches down to 35 Hz; the InWall 11 plays down to 32 Hz, handles more power and needs noticeably more wall. For normal living spaces the 9 is comfortably enough, in large rooms the 11 pays off. We help place that for your room.

Does the wall cavity need a back chamber or insulation?

The InWall 9 brings its own bass-reflex system with passive radiators and is set into the cavity. Whether extra insulation or sealing towards the neighbouring room makes sense depends on the specific structure. Mauri, our technician, assesses that on site for you.

Is the Atelier InWall 9 sold singly or in pairs?

Singly – Canton lists it as an individual speaker, and our sales unit is accordingly per piece. For stereo you need two, for a surround system correspondingly more plus the centre Atelier InWall 9 C. We work out the quantities with you beforehand.

Why buy the Canton Atelier InWall 9 from HD Zürisee?

Because with an in-wall speaker, the planning decides the result: height, distance, wall structure, cable routing. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil brings years of practice to this and sends Mauri for installation and wiring. Call us or message us on WhatsApp.

Goes well with

More flat models for the wall are under wall speakers, the matching dialogue channel under centre speakers. If something's still missing on the low end, a subwoofer helps; the electronics to go with it are with the amplifiers. Cables for in-wall routing are under speaker cables, the whole range in the Canton world.
