The Canton Atelier InWall 3 is a passive, square 2-way in-wall speaker for spots where an elongated model no longer fits.

With a 29 × 29 cm cut-out and 7.2 cm installation depth, it disappears completely into the wall; all that stays visible is the frameless fabric cover in white silk matt. The smallest model in the Atelier InWall range – and often the only one that still fits between two studs.

Why the Atelier InWall 3?

Because the square format creates planning freedom. A 128 mm aluminium-titanium woofer/midrange driver, a 25 mm aluminium tweeter with wave guide and a passive radiator fit into an enclosure with just 33 × 33 cm external dimensions. Because the enclosure is sealed, it needs no wall volume – it sounds the same in a concrete recess as in drywall. This predictability is exactly what makes planning relaxed.

What you hear

A clean, understated sound with clear speech and fine treble. It starts rolling off at 42 Hz, which is entirely sufficient for ambience, radio, podcasts and surround effects. With 88 dB sensitivity and 60 watts nominal power handling, it doesn't make a fuss on a multi-channel receiver either. What it doesn't deliver is deep bass with punch – for that, it's simply too small, and Canton knew that when they built it.

Who is the Atelier InWall 3 suited to?

For surround and effect channels, for sound in kitchens, hallways, offices or corridors, and for small rooms where a stereo pair is enough. Also the most affordable entry into a consistently invisible multi-room system. Straight talk: as a main speaker in a large living room, it's out of its depth – that's where a larger model belongs, or at least a subwoofer alongside it. We'd rather tell you that before the cut-out than after.

Our verdict

The series' small pragmatist: unobtrusive, cleanly tuned, and thanks to its square format usable in spots where other in-wall speakers have to make do. As surround and secondary-room sound, a very sensible choice.

Frequently asked questions

What wall cut-out does the Atelier InWall 3 need?

29 × 29 cm square, at 7.2 cm installation depth. The square format often fits where elongated models fail because of stud spacing. Mauri, our technician, checks the wall construction beforehand, sets the positions and handles the on-site installation.

Does the InWall 3 need a rear chamber in the wall?

No. It brings its own enclosure with a passive radiator and doesn't depend on the wall's volume. This keeps the sound predictable regardless of wall construction. An insulated cavity wall is still worthwhile, though, so less sound travels into the room next door.

Can the InWall 3 be installed in a kitchen or bathroom?

In the kitchen and hallway, yes; in the bathroom, only well outside the splash zone. Canton doesn't state a wet-room rating for the Atelier InWall series. For a shower, wellness room or covered outdoor area, we'll plan in a model approved for that instead.

What is the InWall 3 best suited for?

As a surround and effects speaker in home cinema, as invisible sound in secondary rooms, and as a space-saving stereo pair in small rooms. For main speakers in larger rooms, you're better off with the InWall 5 or adding a subwoofer.

Why buy the Canton Atelier InWall 3 from HD Zürisee?

Because with an in-wall speaker, the groundwork decides the result, and a cut-out can't be undone. We plan positions, cut-outs and cable routing with you, and Mauri installs on site. Call or message us, and we'll take a look at your floor plan.

Larger wall solutions are under Wall Speakers, the matching dialogue channel under Center Speakers. A Subwoofer provides depth, and you'll find the complete film-sound range under Home Cinema Speakers. The speaker cable belongs in the wall before the plasterer arrives.
