The AudioQuest RCA Adapter & Splitter is a selection of gold-plated RCA connectors for spots where a straight cable just won't reach: a 90-degree angle, a rigid Y-splitter, and a flexible splitter variant with a short cable. You choose the version that solves your connection problem.

Why bother with proper adapters at all?

More gets decided behind the rack than you can see from the front. An adapter made of soft sheet metal increases contact resistance, works loose the next time you rearrange things, and readily picks up a hum. The AudioQuest pieces work with gold-plated contacts and a mechanism that fits snugly – what matters here isn't esoterica, but fit and contact pressure.

The three versions in plain terms

M21F-90S: accepts an RCA plug and goes into the device as an angled RCA plug – the rescue when the rack sits against the wall or the cable is stiff. M22F-HRD: the rigid hard splitter, one RCA plug into two RCA sockets, a compact metal block with no cable. FLX-X splitter: the same split, but via a short, flexible piece of cable – more pleasant where a rigid piece would lever on the socket.

Who are the adapters for – and who aren't they for?

Right for you if your cable is fundamentally fine and just needs to be redirected or split – for an additional subwoofer, say. Straight talk: no adapter rescues a thin, too-long, or tired signal path, and three adapters in a row aren't a solution but troubleshooting in slow motion. In that case, a properly made-up cable is the more honest answer.

Our verdict

Small parts you only learn to appreciate once the rack sits against the wall without any cursing. Solid mechanics, gold-plated contacts, clear jobs to do – an adapter shouldn't need to do more than that. If you're unsure which of the three versions fits your case: describe your devices and the space to us briefly. Frequently asked questions

Which of the three versions do I need?

That depends on your goal. The M21F-90S redirects an RCA cable by 90 degrees when there's no room behind the device. The M22F-HRD rigidly splits a signal across two sockets. The FLX-X variant does the same with a short, movable cable instead of a fixed metal block.

Does an adapter degrade the sound?

A short, well-built adapter with gold-plated contacts is sonically uncritical and clearly better than a wobbly makeshift solution. It only gets critical once adapters start stacking up or the contact sits loosely. A firm fit counts for more here than any material marketing – we say that deliberately, this plainly.

Can I use the splitter to also feed a subwoofer?

Yes, that's the classic use: a Y-splitter also feeds the same RCA signal to the subwoofer input. Make sure the source can drive the doubled load. If your subwoofer offers its own high-level or pass-through input, that route is usually the better one – we're happy to take a look at that with you.

Is the 90-degree angle a socket or a plug?

The M21F-90S accepts an RCA plug on one side and itself plugs into the device as an angled RCA plug. That way your cable disappears to the side instead of straight back. Practical for racks close to the wall, low sideboards, and whenever your cable is thick and stubborn.

Why order the AudioQuest RCA adapters from HD Zürisee?

Because we know from practice which adapter helps and which one just shifts the problem elsewhere. Describe your connection situation to us, and we'll name the right version – or honestly tell you that a different cable would be the better solution. That advice comes free in Wädenswil.
