The AudioQuest MINI-FLX3.52RCA is a jack/RCA adapter that routes a 3.5mm stereo output to two RCA sockets for left and right. Solid Solid PSC+ conductors in a fifteen-centimetre-short, braided cable replace the plastic adapter that lies in a drawer with most devices.

Why this adapter and not the one from the drawer?

The transition from mini-jack to RCA is one of the most thankless spots in a system: small, mechanically stressed, usually cheaply made. That's exactly where loose contacts, one-sided failures, and hum arise. AudioQuest puts the same solid Solid PSC+ conductors here as in its FLX cable series, plus gold-plated contacts and a braided jacket that absorbs pulling forces instead of passing them on to the solder joint.

What you get – and what else you need

On one side a 3.5mm stereo plug, on the other two RCA sockets. Important: these are sockets, not plugs. You plug your existing RCA cable into them and run it into the high-level input of your amplifier or active speakers. That sounds like a detour, but it's actually the more practical route – you determine the length and quality of that run yourself, instead of being tied to a fixed, moulded-on lead.

Who is the MINI-FLX3.52RCA for – and who isn't it for?

Ideal when your source only has a jack output: notebook, portable player, headphone amp, older smartphone. Plain talk: if the source has a genuine RCA output, use a single continuous RCA cable instead – every intermediate point you remove is one less source of interference. And anyone wanting to connect a modern phone without a headphone jack needs a DAC beforehand anyway; then it's worth looking at a proper DAC.

Our verdict

No sonic miracle, but a properly built bridge – and that's exactly the compliment. The MINI-FLX3.52RCA holds up mechanically, sits firmly, and doesn't draw attention, which is the highest praise an adapter can get. Frequently asked questions

Can I plug the adapter directly into the amplifier?

No, the RCA end has two sockets, not plugs. You plug a normal RCA cable in there and run it to the high-level input of your amplifier or active speakers. That has an advantage: you're free to choose the length and quality of that cable instead of having to live with a fixed lead.

Can I use it to connect my phone to the stereo system?

Yes, provided your smartphone has a 3.5mm headphone output. The adapter takes the signal and hands it on to your RCA cable. For devices without a headphone jack, put a USB-C or Lightning DAC in front, or go straight via an external DAC – sonically that's clearly the more sensible route.

Is the quality enough for a permanently installed source?

For a fixed installation, a single continuous cable with no intermediate point is always the cleaner solution. The MINI-FLX3.52RCA plays to its strength wherever the source simply only has a jack output – say a notebook, portable player, or headphone amp. For occasional use, it's exactly right.

How long is the adapter, and how flexible?

Around fifteen centimetres, with a braided jacket that bends without kinking. That means no rigid block hangs off your device's socket, and the two RCA sockets can be conveniently positioned behind the rack. In the long run, that's also easier on the source's socket.

Why get the MINI-FLX3.52RCA from HD Zürisee?

Because we think the chain through to the end: adapter, matching RCA cable, correct input. In Wädenswil there's a well-practised specialist team that puts together the shortest clean connection for you, instead of a stack of adapters. Call, message us on WhatsApp, or email what you want to connect – we'll answer with something specific.
