The AudioQuest MINI-FLX3.5 is a jack splitter that distributes a 3.5mm stereo signal to two 3.5mm sockets. Instead of the usual bargain-bin splitter, this one packs a short, flexible cable with solid Solid PSC+ conductors and gold-plated contacts.

Why this particular splitter?

A Y-splitter is electrically the simplest thing in the world – and yet the spot where many setups quietly lose out. Cheap splitters use thin stranded wire and loosely seated contacts: contact resistance, wobble, crackling with every movement. The MINI-FLX3.5 uses the same solid Solid PSC+ conductors that AudioQuest builds into its FLX cables, plus a braided jacket that keeps the fifteen centimetres between plug and double socket flexible without kinking.

What you get

One 3.5mm stereo plug goes in, two 3.5mm stereo sockets come out, both carrying the same signal. That lets you hang two headphones off one output or send one source to two devices at once. The contacts are gold-plated, the jacket is white braided, and the whole thing fits in any pocket and survives everyday life in a backpack.

Who is the MINI-FLX3.5 for – and who isn't it for?

You're in the right place if two people need to listen from one headphone output, or one source needs to feed two destinations. Plain talk: a splitter doesn't halve the quality, but it does split the power. If two high-impedance headphones hang off a weak notebook output, things get quiet and thin – then the way forward is a headphone amp. And this thing doesn't separate microphone signals; it's a pure stereo splitter.

Our verdict

An accessory nobody normally says a word about – until the cheap equivalent crackles at the crucial moment. The MINI-FLX3.5 is solidly built, mechanically robust, and delivers exactly what a splitter should: nothing of its own. Not sure whether you need a splitter or a headphone amp? Frequently asked questions

Can two headphones listen through it at the same time?

Yes, both sockets carry the same stereo signal, and both headphones run in parallel. Just keep in mind: the two headphones share the output's power. On a powerful headphone amp you won't notice anything, on a weak notebook output you'll be missing level and punch. Headphones with different sensitivities will also play at different volumes.

Does the splitter also work with a headset that has a microphone?

No, it's not built for that. The MINI-FLX3.5 distributes a pure stereo signal to two outputs. Four-pole headset jacks with a microphone channel need their own TRRS splitter that cleanly separates headphone and microphone. Tell us which headset and which computer you use, and we'll name the right part for you.

Why solid conductors instead of stranded wire in such a short piece?

Because even fifteen centimetres of signal path have transitions. Solid Solid PSC+ conductors avoid the many contact points between individual strands, and their surface is drawn evenly. The result is a mechanically stable contact that doesn't crackle when the cable moves, and stays the same over the years.

Does it fit smartphones, notebooks, and headphone amps?

Yes, wherever there's a 3.5mm stereo socket. Many current smartphones no longer have a headphone jack and need a USB-C or Lightning adapter with a built-in DAC beforehand. Tell us your device and your headphones, and we'll tell you the right combination – and whether it delivers enough level.

Why buy the MINI-FLX3.5 from HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you in advance whether a splitter solves your problem or just moves it. Our team in Wädenswil handles headphones, amplifiers, and adapters every day and advises you by phone, WhatsApp, or email – even for a part of this size. Small amounts, the same care.
