The Audio Analogue Maestro Anniversary is an analogue stereo integrated amplifier that combines preamp and power amp in a dual-mono build, delivering 150 W into 8 Ω.
In silver it shows where it comes from: milled natural aluminium, a single large control knob, a display that tells you the volume and stays silent otherwise. Italian amplifier building without flourishes — the show happens inside.
Why the Maestro Anniversary?
Because the power supply isn't where corners get cut here. Each channel hangs off its own toroidal transformer of around 600 VA, with 67,200 µF of buffering in total. The output stages work with four transistor pairs per channel and no global feedback, and there isn't a single op-amp in the volume path. The result is 150 W into 8 Ω, 300 W into 4 Ω and 500 W into 2 Ω — a clean doubling as impedance drops, the kind usually reserved for bigger power amps. Anyone who's ever heard an amplifier buckle under demanding speakers knows why that matters.
What you hear
Control, without feeling severe. The 0.2 Ω output impedance keeps woofers on a short leash, while the midrange stays open and unforced. The roughly 100 dB signal-to-noise ratio means quiet passages are genuinely quiet, not sunk in a carpet of noise. And because bandwidth reaches up to 90 kHz, cymbals and strings sound airy instead of clipped. In short: plenty of muscle, little fuss.
Who is the Maestro Anniversary for?
For stereo listeners with serious speakers and their own sources. Straight talk: there's no network module, no DAC, no phono stage, no headphone output and no preamp output here — anyone wanting to add an active subwoofer has to do it via the speaker terminals. If you're after a system that does everything and is run from an app, look elsewhere. If you listen to music instead of operating devices, you're in exactly the right place.
Our verdict
The Maestro Anniversary doesn't age in software, only, at most, under dust on the lid. Solid build, honest engineering, a unit for the next fifteen years. Frequently asked questions
Does the Maestro Anniversary match my speakers?
In the vast majority of cases, yes. 150 W into 8 Ω, 300 W into 4 Ω and 500 W into 2 Ω plus a 0.2 Ω output impedance mean even low-efficiency or impedance-critical speakers get plenty of current. It only gets critical with extreme outliers. Send us your model and we'll take a look.
How does the Maestro Anniversary control volume?
Via electronically switched resistor chains instead of a classic potentiometer. There are no op-amps anywhere in the volume path. This keeps channel tracking stable across the whole control range and prevents the scratching that older potentiometers eventually develop. Anyone wanting even finer control will find the more elaborate solution in the RR version.
Is the step up to the RR version worth it?
That depends on the rest of your system. Power, power supply and output stage are identical in both; the RR version controls level purely in the analogue domain via relays and precision resistors instead of switched resistor chains. On high-resolution speakers the difference is noticeable; in a mixed system it's more of a side note.
Do I need additional devices?
Yes, at least one source. The Maestro Anniversary has neither a DAC, nor a network module, nor a phono preamp on board — a streamer, CD player or turntable with a matching phono preamp comes separately. Connection is via three RCA or two XLR inputs. We'll put together a system that fits together.
Why buy the Maestro Anniversary in Silver from HD Zürisee?
