The Atlantis Lab AT16 is a slim 2-way floorstanding speaker with two 13 cm woofers in a “face à face” arrangement and a 1-inch compression driver that plays with real drive even with small amplifiers, thanks to its 94.5 dB sensitivity.

Why the Atlantis Lab AT16?

Two 13 cm woofers from Eighteen Sound work in a “face à face” arrangement, one on the front and one on the back of the cabinet; above them sits a 1-inch compression driver. At 81 cm tall and at most 24 cm wide, the tower stays slim, and the sensitivity of 94.5 dB turns small amplifiers into full partners (6 to 200 watts recommended). The bass reflex port is adjustable (22.5 cm from the factory, optionally 19.5 or 21.5 cm). You also get feet developed by Pann Audio for Atlantis Lab, copper terminals and Esprit Audio internal wiring.

What you hear

The data sheet promises 40 Hz to 22 kHz from a tower that finds room even in a living room with sofa, plant and housemates. The British press highlights exactly what a compression driver and high sensitivity lead you to expect: immediacy and fast transients. The manufacturer states a break-in time of around 30 hours – after that, the AT16 is welcome to show itself.

Who is the Atlantis Lab AT16 for?

For small to medium-sized rooms, for listeners with a taste for directness and dynamics, and for anyone listening with amplifiers of moderate power. Plain talk: two 13 cm woofers deliver pace and precision, but not cinema thunder in a loft. The AT16 is also a 4 Ω load, and because one woofer radiates to the rear, it appreciates some space behind it. If you want to fill a large room with more deep bass, the AT18 or AT21 is a step up.
