Silent Angel comes from Thunder Data and builds audiophile network and server infrastructure – streaming switches, linearly regulated power supplies, master clocks and music servers. This is fine-tuning for the digital chain: devices that don't create the sound themselves, but keep the source and the network cleaner and less noisy. Specialist gear, not a starting point.

At our place by Lake Zurich, Silent Angel is the building block for people who want to optimise the digital playback of an already well set-up system. In Wädenswil we'll tell you honestly whether it makes any difference in your system at all.

The Silent Angel range we carry

• Network switches – the Bonn series (N8, N8C, NX) decouples and cleans the network signal before the streamer.
• Linear power supplies – the Forester range (F1, F2, FX) powers switches, streamers and other devices with less noise than a plug-in adapter.
• Clock & accessories – the Genesis GX master clock plus the more compact GC-10M and GC-25M for external 10/25 MHz clocking, along with FGC and FPC for grounding and filtering.
• Music servers – Munich M1, M1T, Rhein Z1 Plus and Z1C for storing, managing and playing your music.
• Streamers & converters – the Munich MU as a streamer with built-in DAC for playback.
• Network accessories – the LF-SP network filter and the DM X SA Cat8 network cable for that last, clean connection to the streamer.

Honestly

This is fine-tuning territory, and here's the deal: the effect is real, but subtle and strongly dependent on the rest of the system. If your system, your speakers and above all your room aren't yet fully dialled in, put your money there first – room acoustics almost always give you more than a switch. But if the foundation is solid and you're squeezing the last bit out of a high-resolution chain, Silent Angel can make the difference. We're honest with you: we only recommend it when it actually pays off in your setup.

Does an audiophile network switch really make a difference?

On a high-resolution, cleanly built streaming chain, an effect is audible – usually a calmer, clearer sound. It's not guaranteed: on a simple system or in an acoustically difficult room you'll notice little to nothing. That's why we clarify upfront, honestly, whether it's worth it for you.

Bonn N8 or NX – what's the difference?

The N8 is the entry point into the Bonn switches, the N8C comes with a higher-quality clock, and the NX is the most elaborate variant with even better clocking and power supply. The step up is only worth it if the rest of the chain can resolve that level too.

Is a linear power supply from the Forester range worth it?

A linearly regulated power supply replaces the supplied plug-in adapter and delivers cleaner power – this is often the more effective lever than the switch itself. Which Forester model fits depends on the device it's powering; tell us what you want to run it on.

Who is Silent Angel worthwhile for – and who not?
