The Cabasse The Pearl Myuki is a portable active speaker that combines a coaxial driver, two woofers, amplifiers, a network streamer and a battery in a single spherical enclosure.

It's the nomad of the Pearl family: a sphere on a flat base, 18.6 cm wide and a light 2.1 kg, that you place wherever the listening happens right now – and that you can later expand into a stereo pair with a second unit.

Why the Pearl Myuki?

141 watts are split across three drivers: 65 watts for the coaxial DOM 45 wideband driver, twice 38 watts for the 12 cm woofers, which face each other and cancel out their own recoil forces. That's why the sphere doesn't wander across the sideboard when things get deep. A built-in microphone measures the room (CRCS), and the electronics adapt the frequency response to the placement. Bottom line: this is no Bluetooth tub for the bathroom, but a small hi-fi speaker that just happens to have a battery too.

What you get

Network via Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 5, mesh-capable) or Ethernet, plus AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, UPnP/DLNA and the StreamCONTROL app for multiroom. Since the spring 2025 firmware update, the Myuki is also certified Roon Ready. It plays hi-res up to DSD 128. Streaming stays an option and not a requirement: connect your TV via the optical input, any analogue source via the 3.5 mm jack, and internet radio costs nothing. Up to twelve hours of battery simply means it's no longer the wall socket that decides where the music plays.

Who is the Myuki for – and who isn't it for?

For anyone who wants to take good sound with them: kitchen, terrace, office, bedroom, holiday flat. Honestly: it's not a weatherproof outdoor speaker – Cabasse doesn't state an IP rating, so rain and continuous outdoor use aren't its home. If you want real stereo, you need two spheres, since a single one plays mono. And if you're planning a permanently wired system anyway, passive speakers on an amplifier stay more flexible in the long run.

Our verdict

The Myuki is the smallest serious Pearl: grown-up sound, spherical design, no cable tying you down. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we'll clarify with you beforehand whether one sphere is enough or two make sense – that question is better answered before the purchase than after.

What the trade press says: "Plenty of DSP power helps cleverly mask the acoustic limitations from its small physical size and makes the listener believe in a much bigger speaker. And it does so very convincingly." – LowBeats, 27.09.2024 (Frank Borowski), rating 4.5/5.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Myuki supplied singly or as a pair?

Singly. You get one sphere, which plays in mono on its own. For real stereo, pair two Myuki via the StreamCONTROL app. That's how Cabasse also brings the speaker to market across Europe: as a single unit with an optional stereo upgrade.

How long does the battery last, and how is it charged?

Cabasse states up to twelve hours of playback per charge. Charging is via the USB-C port with the included mains adapter, and it keeps running with no time limit while plugged in. Cabasse does not publish charging time or battery capacity – ask us if you need it for planning.

Can I connect the Myuki to a computer via USB-C?

No, the USB-C port is for power and charging, not for audio input. Connect a TV or computer via the optical input, and analogue sources via the 3.5 mm jack. From a computer you can also go wireless via AirPlay 2 or your home network.

Is the Myuki Roon Ready?

Yes. Cabasse made The Pearl Myuki Roon Ready via a firmware update in spring 2025, and Roon lists it as a certified Roon Ready device in its official partner list. It then shows up as its own zone and takes the stream directly, without going through AirPlay 2. Current firmware required.

Does the Myuki work without a streaming subscription?

Yes. Internet radio, music from a network drive, and everything on the optical or analogue input work without a subscription. Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and Deezer are an option, not a requirement, and Bluetooth from your phone doesn't need an account either. That keeps it useful even if you switch services.

Why buy the Pearl Myuki at HD Zürisee?

Because we'll tell you honestly whether one sphere is enough or two make sense, and whether the Myuki becomes your main or secondary system. Add to that an experienced team who know these devices from everyday use, correct warranty handling as an authorised dealer, and Mauri for service and installation.
