The Bluesound Pulse Mini 2i is a compact active streaming speaker with BluOS that combines two woofers, two tweeters and 100 watts of amplifier power in a slim housing.
In black, it blends unobtrusively into a shelf while still delivering full-grown sound. Let's be clear: the “Mini” refers to the footprint, not the sound. The Pulse Mini 2i plays surprisingly big for its size and is the golden middle ground between the Pulse Flex and the Pulse 2i.
Why the Pulse Mini 2i?
100 watts in bi-amping – 40 watts per woofer, 10 watts per tweeter – drive four drivers and a dual acoustic chamber. That adds up to rich, clean sound in small to medium rooms without the housing getting restless at higher levels. Through BluOS you play a wide range of music services, plus internet radio and your own files from the network or a USB stick – with or without a paid subscription. And if one isn't enough: two Pulse Mini 2i speakers can be paired into a separate stereo pair.
What you get
Playback up to 24 bit / 192 kHz including MQA, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD in both directions, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready. Plus dual-band Wi-Fi, Gigabit Ethernet, a 3.5mm combo input for analogue or optical sources, a USB-A port and a headphone output. Voice control runs through Amazon Alexa. Firmware updates come via the BluOS app – the reason a unit from 2018 can still handle Tidal Connect today. For wall mounting, the Bluesound WM200 bracket is available as an accessory.
Who is the Pulse Mini 2i for – and who isn't it for?
A versatile all-rounder for living rooms, bedrooms or home offices, and a good first building block for multiroom. If you want maximum level for large rooms, the bigger Pulse 2i serves you better – it goes noticeably deeper with 150 watts and 40 hertz. To be fair: the Mini 2i uses the proven 2i platform, not the newest Bluesound generation, and it stays silent without Wi-Fi or a network cable. None of that changes how solid it sounds.
Our verdict
The Pulse Mini 2i is Bluesound's balanced mid-range streaming speaker: compact enough for a shelf, powerful enough for a living room, and always expandable thanks to BluOS. Frequently asked questions
What room size suits the Pulse Mini 2i?
With 100 watts and four drivers it fills small to medium rooms cleanly and with good depth down to around 50 hertz. For large rooms or loud party levels, the bigger Pulse 2i is the stronger choice; for very small rooms a Pulse Flex is enough.
Can I use two Pulse Mini 2i as a stereo pair?
Yes. Through the BluOS app you pair two Pulse Mini 2i speakers into a separate stereo pair with left and right channels. That gives you a wide, precise soundstage. Alternatively, they keep playing individually in different rooms as part of a multiroom setup.
What's the difference between the Mini 2i and the Pulse 2i?
The Pulse Mini 2i delivers 100 watts and reaches down to 50 hertz, while the bigger Pulse 2i offers 150 watts, larger drivers and 40 hertz. The platform and feature set are largely identical – the choice comes down to room size and desired volume.
Do I need a streaming subscription?
No. Internet radio, files from your network storage and music from a USB stick run without any ongoing cost. Paid services can additionally be linked through BluOS if you want them – they're an option, not a requirement for operation.
Why buy the Bluesound Pulse Mini 2i from HD Zürisee?
