The Bluesound Pulse 2i is an active streaming speaker with BluOS that brings together two woofers, two tweeters and 150 watts of amplifier power in one enclosure to form a complete stereo system.

In white, it recedes visually and fits into bright living spaces without dominating the room. Honestly, you wouldn't expect fully grown stereo sound from such a slim enclosure. The Pulse 2i disproves that every day anew – with level and bass that genuinely fill the room.

Why the Pulse 2i?

Because here, a single device replaces source, amplifier and speakers. 150 watts in bi-amping – 65 watts per woofer, 10 watts per tweeter – work into two 133 mm woofers and two 25 mm tweeters. The frequency response reaches down to 40 Hz, and you hear that especially where cheap wireless speakers give up. Via BluOS you reach a wide range of music services, internet radio and your own files – a subscription is optional, not an entry ticket.

What you get

Hi-res playback up to 24-bit / 192 kHz including MQA, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD in both directions, AirPlay 2, Roon Ready as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Wired connectivity comes via Gigabit Ethernet, wireless via dual-band Wi-Fi. Added to that are a 3.5 mm combo input for analogue or optical sources, a USB-A port for storage media, a headphone output and a carry handle that makes repositioning a non-issue. Who's the Pulse 2i for – and who isn't it for?

Ideal if you want powerful stereo sound from one device and want to stay multiroom-capable – a second room can always be added later. If you're only after quiet background music in a small room, it makes more sense to go for the Pulse Mini 2i or Pulse Flex and save money. There's no HDMI input; TV sound runs via the optical input. And the 2i generation is the proven, not the newest, Bluesound platform – that concerns the feature set, not the sound quality.

How big can the room be for a Pulse 2i?

It effortlessly fills small to medium living spaces with 150 watts and four drivers, including bass extension down to 40 Hz. In very large, open areas, you're better off working with two coupled devices. For mere background music in a small room, a Pulse Mini 2i is enough.

Can I pair two Pulse 2i units into a stereo pair?

Yes. In the BluOS app you assign two Pulse 2i units as left and right channels. That makes the soundstage noticeably wider and imaging more precise. Alternatively, they keep playing individually in different rooms as part of a multiroom setup.

Does the Pulse 2i work without a paid subscription?

Yes. Internet radio, files from your network storage and music from a USB stick work at no ongoing cost. Paid services like Qobuz or Tidal can be added via BluOS if you like – they're a possibility, not a condition for operation.

Can I connect a TV?

Yes, via the 3.5 mm combo input in optical mode with the included Toslink adapter. The Pulse 2i has no HDMI. For a connection via HDMI eARC, a Bluesound Powernode is the more suitable choice – we're happy to advise you on that.
