Sangean U4 DBT+ Worksite Radio with DAB+, IP65

The Sangean U4 DBT+ is a worksite radio with DAB+, FM-RDS and Bluetooth, built for rough daily use with IP65 protection and a protective roll cage.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Sangean U4 DBT+ waterproof?

It is protected to IP65: dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. Rain and splashes are no problem. Do not submerge it, as IP65 does not mean immersion-proof. The roll cage also absorbs knocks.

Does the U4 DBT+ run on batteries or mains?

Both. It runs from the 12 V mains adapter or on six D cells. On batteries the output is 4 watts, a little lower than the 7 watts on mains. A smart charger charges inserted rechargeable cells individually.

Do I need a subscription for digital radio?

No. You receive DAB+ and FM without a subscription. Bluetooth, AUX and USB playback are extra ways to play your own music. None of it is compulsory, and the radio works perfectly well without a phone.

Can I charge my phone from the U4 DBT+?

Yes. The USB-A port delivers 5 volts and 1 ampere. That is enough to top up a smartphone, although it is not meant for fast charging. Handy when no mains socket is free on site.

What is the difference between the U4 DBT+ and the U4X?

The U4X has a built-in lithium battery, 12 + 12 watts on mains, a dual voice coil speaker and TWS to pair two units for stereo. The U4 DBT+ works with D cells and 7 watts, and costs less.
